I havent assumed anything, I used it as one example amongst others as a potential suggestion as to why theres a lack of black coaches coming through the ranks. You have to have that desire and a willingness to teach others and being competent in doing so, a hunger to impart your knowledge onto others. The motivation to learn and develop your abilities to better yourself and other. Regardless of the subject matter. Thats what I mean by aptitude.
I meant the reasons why they were kneeling today. has no relation to why they started kneeling again recently. Which was by the NFL player who chose that so as not to insult the American anthem. And yes Raab is an idiot.
Protest doesn't have to be putting the entire country at risk from Covid-19... For effect why not say we are going to have a march after we are not on such a turning point for covid-19, so say provisionally August 31st, massive rally in London unless health circumstances have taken a turn for the worse.. Yes would totally get that...Also none of the violence.. Also, I have heard lots of shouting and noise but no real suggestions of what exactly is wanted, especially in this country where political correctness etc is already everywhere we walk and talk. So Why not get on the petitions website and ask for political debate on SPECIFIC outcomes. In this country we have had enquiry after enquiry but nobody seems to have a real endgame. It can't be just equality or I must live in a bubble because I don't see day to day this equality divide. Maybe I'm partially blind to it because of the ethnic makeup of Barnsley?? I don't know. I just know I see everybody as equals unless I personally witness individuals hurting others. When I have been involved in recruitment, diversity has been one of the hot topics so not seen it at work. I've not witnessed south yorkshire police in Barnsley treat people differently nor retail outlets, social outlets.. So forgive me if I say what else should I be doing? Our own circumstances surely shape our view on things. Like I said earlier, I treat everyone the same, hopefully well and try to surround myself with like minded people in a social setting. Always annoys me when now I am being told that's not enough, you have to be an activist. They were words spoken on Jeremy Vines morning show the other day. I don't agree with that if I'm honest, does that make me a bad person? I don't think so personally.
No, I don't think it could be. I don't see why black players would be any more or less likely to "fancy it" than white players.
So not for the first time you get asked a question and avoid answering. Which i find highly surprising given you have a know it all attitude to everything.
Don’t know the figures but it appears the difference in ratio appears to be huge on face value. I recall reading an article that was discussing the lack of opportunities for black coaches in the game a couple of years ago and one of the reasons given at the time was that a very small % of people taking their badges were black, not sure if it’s changed since then but would have thought the real issue would be to identify why that figure was so(a point missed in the article). Edit: Found the article, it was in 2014 so little longer than I thought, but figures were 25% of Players were BAME but only 3.4% in a coaching position.
Nah, your Ok. Said what I have to say on the subject.. If that has some other meaning then so be it as it wasn't the movement, it was the general message tbh behind my posting. As in everybody matters regardless of genetic makeup to me..
David Lammy has recommendations that have been widely discussed and can be implemented if the will us there, no need to reinvent the wheel. It is very easy in Barnsley to be a bit immune to the effects. Although now things to be shifting a bit in that it's not so common now to see all white faces when you go into town. But just because you don't directly notice something doesn't mean it doesn't exist and it's not a problem. As I've said before, its time to listen not go on the defensive.
we are back to a personal opinion, 'i imagine,i dont see', etc, no one has come up with anything concrete to answer my initial question you dont see it as a reason i dont see the colour of someones skin being a barrier in football simply on the amount of black players in the premiership, quite a few who have achieved the status as club captain what i will say,is if colour is a barrier then someones head needs to roll in the FA towers.
I agree, I also hope that positive discrimination doesn't get people jobs in the game, I would probably imagine many chairmen up and down the land will be 5hitting it if they turn down a black potential manager for the role based purely on his interview and he wasnt what they were after, just incase they get accused of being racist or bias. Nobody regardless of pigment in your skin should get a job based on your colour, it should be like any job interview and based on qualification, work history, references etc.
We have a local (Yorkshire) 5 a side comp at work, last years winners were from Huddersfield (one white lad), they were a great bunch of lads, only disappointment was they had no interest in going for a beer after the game.
Yes I agree Helen, I am always willing to listen. However the activists are saying the time for listening is over and it is time for action. I just feel I am doing my bit. I hate the world tolerate and tolerant that just feels like you are being forced to do something or pressured. A bit like I feel on the kneeling situation, sonny people just doing it to be seen in the media doing it yet really on a day to day basis giving a damn about anything. For me many of the police probably only did it the other day out of pressure to do so in their surroundings. From a policing perspective I think they shouldn't have and remained, can't think of the right word but neutral if you know what I mean to not get dragged into the debate like they have done. It would have been better placed should the head of the UK police put out a statement acknowledging that racism etc have no place in this world and would never be the acceptable face of UK policing. We have the IPC to look into complaints as well, people of any ethnicity should have the assurance that their voice matters equally. So for me I'll keep doing what I am doing, which I feel is positive to people I meet. #KeepCaring You reds!
I appreciate what the job entails, but there’s no explanation as to why Black players are less likely to possess those qualities is there? you can pontificate all you like (including your usual slurs). But in any industry if the shop floor has a large proportion of black people and the management meetings don’t, there’s a question to be asked.
I haven't got any concrete proof, but it seems nonsensical to suggest that all black players simply don't fancy it and that explains the difference. Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard walked into decent jobs straight away. The same will happen with Rooney even though he's thick as pig ****. Do you think the same would happen if Raheem Sterling wanted to go into management upon retirement? I think it's incredibly facile to suggest the difference might simply be that black players don't fancy it. There is an inherent racism in football at all levels. Black players are seen as athletes who are physically gifted but mentally lacking. Listen to the adjectives used next time you watch a game - they're "so strong" "so fast." Out of all the black players this country has produced how many have we produced whose game isn't based on strength or pace? How many playmakers or attacking midfielders who rely on guile rather than physical attributes?
Well one answer from premier league players genuinely is that the money in coaching doesn't look attractive to them nowadays in comparison to what they have earned as players so many of them, just pursue things like player agencies and property.. So how many top level players are now actively doing coaching badges? Then you have other roles in footy, like directors of football, I know Les Ferdinand is in role at QPR so there are other opportunities cities like player agencies. So then if you look down the leagues, some clubs report getting zero applicants from anyone other than white ethnicity. I think Jimmy Flloyd Hasselbaink rubbished the argument that being black meant no manager job and that many people just accepted the lazy argument that they are black so wont get the job hence dont apply. It's a bit like complaining you didnt win the lottery when you didn't buy a ticket. I'd bet that if for instance someone like Rio Ferdinand rocks up at Oakwell if the managers job was vacant, was happy with the philosophy and wages. Then demonstrated he had all his coaching badges and did a presentation on the quality that Stendel did (I I reight enjoyed that presentation), he would be not discriminated against.. So one thing has to be looked at I guess.. how many BAME payers take their coaching badges, then are they applying for roles? I guess we don't know the figures from a footy perspective so it is hard to form a judgement.
In 2014 just over 6% of people holding coaching qualifications were from BAME, what the report also showed was the two lowest levels (FA levels) 9% but then the next step (UEFA) dropped to just over 4%.
