They don`t like the heritage of the West Stand, dont want to be called the Colliers anymore, programme has to change to Grove Street from Oakwell, can we still be known as Barnsley or should we move to Wakefield or have a name change to the Barnsley Bisons. Fashionable for how long .

Yes lets bow down to Premier man and have our belly tickled anall while we are at it.

There was once a drive show where Goughie was criticizing Barnsley saying that we didn't deserve to be in the championship and our natural home should be in league one. I called the show up to challenge him on this and I pointed out to him that we had spent more seasons at this level than any other club, I was then cut off. He's an embarrassment to the club, but he didn't mind having his face plastered on the back of the ponty end a few years ago. He'll be first in the que for a season ticket if we go up no doubt.

Absolutely. Just because fans aren't allowed doesn't mean the ground shouldn't have work done to it. Sunderland had the right idea when they replaced faded red seats......

If we did the same the club could even for a small price given season pass holders the chance to have a cushioned seat like MK Dons have in their ground. Plain white pain doesn't cost much to sort the peeling and dirty walls. Yellow paint doesn't cost much either for the steps in the stands.

They used to give away the bird sheet for free. Nothing a wet wipe wouldn't sort.

It makes lots of us uncomfortable too, particularly if you want a wee or you're thirsty or hungry or it's raining.

The romanticism of Oakwell is great, the reality is the facilities aren't. I don't care about the opinion of this bloke but the opinion of my friends and family I do, none of whom spend a single second in the place any longer than they have to and haven't purchased anything there for years. It's the place where our team play, but it could be so much more.

One of the things I hear fans saying they want from Oakwell, is to have it more than just a football stadium and for it to be used 7 days per week? But what does that mean?

A fan zone, fair enough. Conferencing and office facilities, again I can see that. But what else can be done? Would a hotel get enough use when there are other budget chains closer to the town center? I suppose you might get away fans stopping, but would that be enough to make it pay? There is concerts, but would the big bands(or even smaller ones) play here when you have Sheffield and Leeds within a short drive? I'm sure a couple might come, but again, would it make it worth the investment? I know Donny have concerts there, but according to Wiki, they have had 5 acts there since it opened(granted, they are big names), so is it worth spending the money on it?

Other sporting events are a thing that could work, but again, how many? For indoor sports like snooker and darts, you have the Metrodome minutes away already doing that. Boxing and MMA could be good, if we could attract big enough names.

Then there are community events like kids sports, fitness classes etc. They could be done(and are, normally) in the academy buildings, so not worth spending money on.

For me, in the first instance anyway, the stadium simply needs some investment to allow us to use it all. The West Stand needs bringing up to code(if it's not going to be rebuilt), and the North stand needs changing so it can be split again. After that, I'd ant something doing between the North and East to block off the winds if nothing else. That gap makes the place feel desolate in the winter when that cold wind is howling through the gap. If it means extra "normal" seating or even another block of executive facilities, then thats a bonus.

I like the view from that corner from my seat in the Ponty, leave it alone!

Funny you should say that. Before the North Stand was built, we used to say the same about the view from the back of the Ponty, overlooking Monk Bretton etc...
