The real good players don't need to be trialists as they will find a club without needing one. We look to have a distinct lack of targets despite all the stats we have if we have to litter friendlies with guys who aren't ours.
We're letting them train with us, we're having a closer look at them. We have a handful of friendlies coming up. I'd be ******* dumbfounded if we don't give them a run out. That's if they're still with us, of course. We took Jacob on trial after his release by Man Utd. Played him in a youth friendly against Man Utd. He scored from 30 yards. Rest is history. I'm sure we've taken lots of players on trial who have gone on to earn contracts, gone on to do well, or gone on to do nowt. It's one tool available to the manager and I can't agree with your issues over it.
