    I can just see it.

Colgan's goal kick straight into Conlon's chest.
Conlon kills the ball dead to his feet and plays a short pass in field to Burns.
Burns puts Hayes through one on one with the keeper to the right.
Hayes looks to take it round the keeper but pulls it square to Nardiello.
Nardiello has an empty net to roll the ball home.

    (Y) If only Ritchie looked at this board.

RE: I'm not asking for those kind of players...

And you think that your constant sniping at Conlon isn't childish.
He is being asked to do a specific job by the manager and he is doing his best to do that job. If you are so sure that there are people at the club who could do the job he is being asked to do, better than he can, then please name them.
If your problem is that you don't like the system that we are playing, with a target man up front, then berate the manager, not the players.
Before you say anything more, let me just say that I am not a Conlon fan and have in the past been as critical as anyone else on his performance but he is not responsible for the system or style that we are playing.

Isn't there a line missing at the end, that goes something like this?
"Nardiello takes it in his stride and smashes it over the crossbar"

In that case, I'd love to know what his specific "job" is..

cos I can only think it's to play in midfield and slow down play

And there was me thinking he would be there to score goals..

Then again, the manager did get my hopes up by saying he could go in the summer...

So, because you can't name the "better players" in his position, you pretend that you don't know what his job is. I think that says all there is to say about your knowledge of the game. Maybe there's a netball team in Barnsley that you could support. Oh but that wouldn't be any good, you wouldn't be able to understand that they have specific jobs to do as well.

If I knew what his specific job was supposed to be..

I could suggest someone at the club or elesewhere who would be better at it.

Please tell me o fountain of all footballing knowledge what his specific job is.

Is it to hold the ball up? No too easily pushed over.

Please tell me. For me, we were planning on playing with FAST mobile strikers this season, who would be able to RUN AT defenders. Something that defenders "down here" don't like to see. So far this has not really been allowed to develop.

Perhaps you are happy for a centre forrad to do a specific job that obviously involves him rarely getting into the final third, let alone the penalty box.

    Ahhh

    you do say "target man"

But CONLON plays too deep and is too slow to be an effective target man.

So do I BLAME Andy Ritchie?

    Ritchie Out

For me too, but we haven't got any of them either!
Just for the record, I am not happy at the style of play that we are employing either but it isn't the fault of any of the players.
When I believe that a player is playing badly, then I will criticise him but I won't blame him or them for everything that is wrong about the way we are playing.

I don't blame Conlon for the style of play or for results(unless he misses sitters?)

I think he's a honest player. But simply not good enough to be in a side that hopes to winpromotion.
