Hopefully as much as he used to pump Rochdale up - always good for three points!

I’d like to see Collins, J. Williams, Halme, Odour & Palmer get a start if they’re all available but let’s not be changing 11 players & getting knocked out early.

Like all clubs we’ll be feeling the pinch at the minute & could really do with a cup run & a televised game against one of the big boys in a later round.

If Collins had covid assume he will still be out. Not sure Halme back fit from injury either.

Hope we play strong side. Would be surprised to see Odour and Palmer starting and Morris if he signs before the weekend. If Schmit, Thomas involved need to see a performance ideally topped off with a goal. Ideal game to try fringe players and would not be surprised to see Christie-Davies, Sibbick and Moon involved.

There won’t be another season with as much mediocrity in the top half of the championship - you could just as easily argue we should chalk **** on the cup, sign a couple or three early doors this month, and aim for the top six.

I think our true position is probably mid-table but why settle?

We certainly aren’t going to win the cup though.

I used to adore the cup. But I honestly couldn’t care less about it.

Play the kids and non-playing squad members, give them a go. If we win, great. I don’t want them to lose, and I’ll be watching on the FA player.

I just don’t think it should be a priority, and we should alter the team markedly - especially after we’ve just played so many games and will likely have some players in desperate need of a rest.

I would agree with all that, if we weren’t playing a Keith Hill managed team in the next round. Personally, we couldn’t score enough against Tranmere come Sunday, and if we are fortunate enough to be leading handsomely by the time a late penalty is awarded, I wouldn’t mind seeing our goalkeeper come charging up the pitch to take it, a la @Stahlrost.;)

We're not going to sign the quality to get us in the play offs though.
The Cup has been degraded but it's down to approaches exactly like those being suggested. Teams in the Premier league sacrificing any ambition to win anything in favour of a squalid existence in lower mid table. As for us, we're nowhere near ready to get in the play offs let alone win them. Maybe I'll be proved wrong on that but if I am it will be because we have spent very big and not because we rested Woodrow and Mowatt against Tranmere.
