Haven't had any problems with it except that the two programmes I've downloaded both had a woman signing for the deaf blocking out half the picture. Is this usual?

 

You could try

You could try - in IE:

Tools -> Internet Options

Click the connections tab.
Make sure no proxy addresses are set under proxy.
Make sure "Never dial a connection is set" (assuming you don't dial up).
Click Setup button and follow instructions to set up a new connection.
