    Business Foresight,

Thats what this club has not got, according to Owen we cannot afford box office players, he is right at this stage of the season we cannot, however if at the start the club would have invested in the likes of Chpra and Mcphail then you can bet the average gate at Oakwell would have been boosted by a extra 2000 easily which would not only have sustained optimism around the club but also paid extra wages.
Secondly . Mr Shepherd , who i blame totally for the mess the club is in, brought in a inexperienced manager at a time when we needed experience to get us out of trouble, even if it was Joe Royal he would still have done a better job than Davey.
Thirdly, like you i will buy my ticket next season, i will even be at Southampton this weekend, BUT how do you or the club expect from a feel good perspective and a demonstratable ambition to go and watch a team who has been taken down by a manager 95% of the fans who are the paying customers did not want.

Nest season "when" we get relagated the hardcore of fans we will get at the well be an average i reckon to be 7000 if we are lucky.
I do thank Mr Cryne, but if he wants the club to move forward and show ambition then Mr Sheperd is not the one because weather you like to believe it or not he has done a first class job of alienating 50% of the fans against him, and Simon Davey.

    Owen....

the fact is that Shepherd might be good at penny-pinching but his PR skills are like a dead jellyfish. I have never witnessed a chairman of a football club act in the manner he has and THAT is what is galling.

Oh and some of the rumours I have heard about the manager's job defy belief. If they all become public I'd like to see GS's response. It would probably be along the line of "oh piss off you're all ill-educated morons and you haven't the slightest clue what you're talking about. I'm a millionaire don't you know."

I just have no respect for the man.

    RE: Business Foresight,

Dont you think the decision to appoint SD was a BOARD decision ie not pne person or is this too difficult for you to understand?

AR did not want to spend the money offered in the summer, wanted to give the exisiting squad a chance. Comendable in spirit but misguided in application.

    If the money available was...

only enough to sign the likes of McCann and Mattis then he was right not to bother.

    RE: Business Foresight,

How much money was he given/offered to sign new players ? Could he sign the ones he wanted with the amounts offered ?

RE: How much longer will that be acceptable as an excuse..

I accept the club board want us to stay up, the real , blatant, in your face fact is that they do not know what do you or have the guts to say they are wrong about the decisions and appointments made so far.. so who suffers Barnsle FC and the plebs who are supposed to support a chairman who quite frankly is to ARROGANT and ALOOF to admit his mistakes

    That old chestnut...

are we saying that AR did not want em?

And by that logic, if AR was rejecting players left right and centre, why did GS not just sign who he wanted to sign?

RE: Best Post Of the year

Glad you like the post, National Red.

However, I know both Owen and Alan well as I used to be involved with the Supporters Club a few years ago when I lived closer to Barnsley. I don't always agree with their opinions (as in the case here with Owen's post) but I do think they get some unfair stick at times on here and I respect their right to express them.

Both are passionate about BFC, and both are long-term loyal supporters.

In their roles nowadays with the Supporters Trust I think they are sometimes viewed (somewhat unfairly) as another mouthpiece for the club, but this isn't the case. They perhaps see things from a different perspective to us, as they have closer links with the Board than most, and I respect their views. However, this doesn't mean I have to agree with them.

However, I think its unfair to 'pigeon-hole' either of them in this way, and feel the need to say so, as I'd hate for the thread to become 'personal' just because we all don't share the same views.

but just look at who is on the board.

not exactly big enough to ensure a fair and just vote in these situations.
