We'll have to just disagree then. This is one of the worst squads I've seen in 45 years.
My point about your 90% figure being a load of ***** was: I don't mind whether you relate it to the whole squad from last season or the players who were generally in the first team who are still here. But in either case Yr figure of 90% falls over.

Yeah fine the 90% may have been an exaggeration but it's splitting hairs really.

Fact is most were here last season and were good enough then and should be good enough now. All don't turn useless overnight.

Think people are saying it's so bad because they are playing so badly due to bad coaching. A better coach has this side higher up the league in my opinion

We can agree on that last bit, but the problems at this club go much deeper.

Oh for sure, and I've said that time and time again on other threads. Issue is, the other fixes take a lot of time and requires a buyer to come forward etc.

Sadly for Clarke, his position is the easiest to replace. We can't sack the whole squad and replace all of them, and we can't just click our fingers and have a new ownership.

This is the problem with a midfield pairing of Nwakali and Russell - zero dynamism or mobility. Against crap teams they'll look great because they'll have time and space. Against a half decent team they'll struggle. We'd be miles better playing either of them alongside someone technically limited but with a proper engine like Sam Togwell than together.

None of our midfield options have any bite except Connell and he's a yard off it recently. We've got no option other than to play 2 midfielders who are tidy on the ball but run like they're towing a caravan and hope for the best.

All this, but I believe if Connell were playing today we would have had a much better chance.

I never got the hype with Connell in the first season. I thought he was pretty good, but nowhere near as good as some were making out. But equally, I don't get the criticism he receives now. He' still pretty good, not amazing, but pretty good at this level, like he always was. He still does a job. And he's the only midfielder we've got who will still be in there fighting when we're under pressure.

The biggest problem we have is we've signed more than half a dozen Fancy Dan midfielders who can look great when we're attacking but offer nothing in defence. And just one Connell. In most games you need two Connells. We've only ever got one, and if he's injured, we've got none. Just players towing caravans like you said. Huddersfield had the freedom of our midfield for the first 25 minutes of the second half. You and I could have done just as bad a job as Nwakali and Russell..

We have been missing a physical, ball carrying midfielder for about a decade now.

The distance between the owners and fans is huge. A gulf and everyone csn see it. Gates have come down so much since duff's tenure

Still much higher than we got under Big Val.

When we had him as our head coach our home crowds dipped badly.
