Think I have a decision to make next season. I want to come see us, I want to come to a loud vibrant Oakwell against good opposition. But at the min and the majority of the last 2 or 3 seasons I’ve just not enjoyed football to the stage when I’ve said I’m not going anymore. The empty seats, lack of atmosphere in the and the feeling of been the easy target for teams has got to me. I’m losing interest not helped by been frustrated at seeing us just stand off every team we play lately. One of the biggest things which frustrates me is the lack of backing BFC gets from the town. Over 230.000 people we struggle to get 10.000 through the turnstiles. Even in struggling times like now there is no backing as though the people just aren’t bothered. The town has a club with good tradition and has had some good times but annoys me that we just can’t get any progress with the crowds we get. No excuse other than that Barnsley is an armchair football town maybe. If we stay up although I say I’m not renewing my Season ticket I will in the end. But go down and I’ll leave it. No interest in lower league football as it bores me, the non event match day feel is something I don’t like and feels a waste of time.
Loved the irony in that post. "The empty seats, lack of atmosphere" "we struggle to get 10.000 through the turnstiles." "in struggling times like now there is no backing" "people just aren’t bothered" "we just can’t get any progress with the crowds we get." All that complaining then '**** it I'm not going'. Made me laugh anyway.
it could be worse... one of my best mates is a Stockport County fan they mid table in Skrill Division 1 North & are playing Solihull Moors on saturday
Yes that is some fall from grace. Well, I say grace, but Stockport were never that big anyway (in my time of watching footy) but when you have played teams on an even keel like we have with them, Luton, Grimsby etc you cannot help but feel for them. However, one relegation is all a downward spiral takes and I'm not stupid enough to think it couldn't happen to us. I believe in the current regime though and still think we can escape this season, but if it all goes tits up I'll still be there next season, as much as I might feel a touch loathe to.
I hope we can pull off some sort of miracle & stay up. Going down a league is never easy. We would be better placed than last time it happened if it does. Finances are better & lots of good young players who should be good enough for that level. A few wins required quickly.
