RE: Leeds Festival is a commercial festival

On this we agree, I just felt I had to point out that the only way tax payers fund it is by buying a ticket.

In case anyone took that to read BMBC were funding it using taxpayers money.

Yes its common knowledge BMBC helped them out IN THE PAST when it looked like the event would fold due to running costs.

    They havent since.

So if they dont fund it by attending, how do Barnsley Tax payers fund it?

One things for sure the free publicity your generating for BOM by keeping this thread going is doing wonders....!!!

Do you pay Income Tax and VAT and do you live in Barnsley

if the answer to these questions is yes then some of your tax money goes to places such as the Art Council, the Arts Council then spends money on events in the area such as BOMfest. I don't care if everyone in the country pays these taxes too, cos they spend the money all over the country aswell.

It's not that hard to understand

Plus some of my Council Taxes have gone to it in the past, money Barnsley residents pay.

    Isn't Pat from Wath?

Have you ever noticed how much confusion there is when it comes to local bands? I seem to recall that when arctic monkeys became famous people were saying they were from sheffield then others said barnsley as well.

tbh i wasn't sure about Pat. The Arctic Monkeys thing stems from a couple of them going to Barnsley college. They are a dee daa band though.

You're putting words into my mouth again

I don't know who they have funding off this year if any, but without the funding in the past it wouldn't be on this year. As you say, it would have folded. So it's on this year because tax payers have contributed to it.

So again I will put this simply for you...

    1. Are BMBC funding BOM this year?
    2. Are the arts council funding BOM this year?
    3. Your original post said Barnsley tax payers are funding BOM this year, how do they fund it?
