RE: what damage can he do from those deep areas.

If he can't pass a ball 3" then it's time to pack in.

Thats one of our problems , we cant pass it short,

I dont think we made a pass of less than 20 yards last night.

It isnt American Football, you get no credit for yardage wracked up when passing in football.

Well he had to get some right, he tried it about 20 times.

They defended so deep it was difficult to do that. When the ball was played long out to SWP we looked dangerous

Then why substitute him? He was our most dangerous player yet he was subbed. Why?

Roundsman, I haven't looked at the opta stats for Beckham at all, but if what you say is true, his pass completion would be what? 5% I reckon not.

    I know my football

That Geoff Hoddle or 'Le Tiss' as us experts referred to him, was one of the greatest footballers in the universe ever... that includes Saturn with it's complicated ring system (dressed up 4-4-2 if you ask me).

    sorry

But Beckham was the main rason we lost last night. It was like watching a footballing quarter back.

As for his performances for Real Madrid, i'd say merchandising has more to do with his position there. Last season he was woeful, if it wasn't for Figo and Gravesen joining in January, they'd have finished mid table.

Sorry, but it seems hype is papering over the cracks here. If you think Beckhams performance was good, just how many chances did he create? Erm, none?

    Fantastic.

    To be fair ...

... the dump I took at 08:40 this morning knows more about Association Football than you do.

Maybe you should stick to what you know?

Have you sued anyone so far today?

    yes he did

if you wasnt watching the game trying to pick faults with one persons performance then you'd have seen that. ans you obviously was scrutinising him right from the start because you had a pot going and took note of every pass he made (90 passes according to you by beckham alone).

He did create chances, he created chances when he put a long ball over the top for SWP to run onto

    RE: sorry

Yes. Sod the other 10 players, lets accomodate David to show what good a long passer he is. Thing is, I feel the team have rumble him, hence Rooneys frustration last night. the sooner he retires from International football the better.

    Good point

I understand the holding role now, thanks. Yes Beckham was useless at it. That Roy Keane is also poor, the amount of assists he gets per season speaks for itself really, he's made a career out of tricking everyone.

Tell me again about Owen Hargreaves...

    ah rooney's 'frustration'

you do know that he has a little 'paddy' about once a month in the premiership when things dont go his way dont you?

Maybe he was frustrated at playing on the left and being **** last night rather than being pissed off because backham was playing in the middle and not on the right wing?

    ps

SWP benefited from the formation change and owen should have done too. afterall, he was part of a 4-5-1 formation at liverpool quite successfully at one point.

RE: so you can judge a lad

I'm not judging Hargreaves after seeing 11 minutes of him Sheff Tyke. I'm judging him on what I've seen of him since Sven was in charge and added him to the England squad. I believe he is a valuable squad player and was a good spot by Sven.

However, I don't think he's a world beater and that's based on what I have seen.

Granted I've mocked his 2 mistakes this morning, but you might be able to concede that that post was more of a tongue in cheek post then a character assassination. He didn't have time to get a feel for the pace of the game.

Beckham however is being played out of position, that's not his fault. But at least he did it and came out with some dignity at the end of 94 minutes of *****.
