NUMBER 114 GIRLS ALOUD - BIOLOGY Great pop song. Great pop song. Great pop song. Just seen that Mansfield has asked for a new music thread, so I think this from 2005 or so counts right? Great pop song.
NUMBER 113 STEREOPHONICS - LOCAL BOY IN THE PHOTOGRAPH Written about a family friend who killed himself on the railway line - the lyric hits deep like an Adam Phillips winner. Add it to a pilfered riff from an ABBA classic and an all time gravelled vocal and you've got a belter. Before they went all weird and *****. Rest in peace Stuart Cable.
NUMBER 112 HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS - THE POWER OF LOVE Jump in the DeLorean lads and lasses, we're going Back To The Future. A slice of pure 80s magic. Lewis was told to write a song called Back To The Future but said he didn't want to do that. They then said that he could write about anything he liked - so 48 hours later he came back with this. Imagine writing something like this in a weekend. Incredible.
NUMBER 111 THE ROLLING STONES - (I CAN'T GET NO) SATISFACTION Well I lost my phone around 6 months ago, which had all the details of this beautiful list. I've only gone and found the file, so this wondrous thing can continue. One of the best riffs of all time, conjured up by a bloke who probably has died more times than Voldemort. Not a bad lyric too. And obviously, this Charlie Watts could drum like a mofo. Yes I said mofo.
NUMBER 110 SUPERGRASS - RICHARD III I think they're quite underrated tbf - everybody knows Alright, but there's lots to listen to about these lads. This riff is heavy as sin and I've no ideally what he's talking about but it sounds good. Plus, I like it when songs don't have the title in their lyrics - I don't know why but it makes them worth a bit more.
