THE BEATLES - WE CAN WORK IT OUT

Paul asks if you can see it his way. John tells us there's no time for fussing and fighting. They were brilliant, weren't they?

Sounds like a Cocteaus song...it's got Robin Guthrie stamped all over it.
Thanks for that, not heard that one before

Here's a gorgeous tune from the 80s. Again Robin Guthrie's production embossed 'Cocteau Twins' on the sound.

TEARS FOR FEARS - EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD

All for freedom and for pleasure. Indeed. So listen to this and there's plenty of pleasure. A blast of 80s brilliance. Wish I was in a band back then.

Great track, but let's be honest it's not a patch on anything from Dog Man Star.

Not even top 10 Monkeys which shows quite categorically they are the greatest band in existence.

Tbf mate I'd never heard of em till live 8. (2005) And as with many other bands/artistes never took real notice till watching em in live (recorded in some cases)
Cyndi lauper (live in paris) U2 (under a blood red sky somewhere in US) police (Rock goes to college) examples.
Bought nearly every album of these artistes. Since. Even having one of Cyndi Laupers sent over from America. ( under the name Blue Angel)

OASIS - ROCK N ROLL STAR

The first song from their first album. It came up to you and punched your lights out. All about getting out of Manchester and making some money. Which I think they probably did.

THE ARCTIC MONKEYS - FLUORESCENT ADOLESCENT

One for @Dyson here, although he'll hate this choice I bet. Great riff and lyric throughout. Can't beat a Mecca Dobber.

Not one of my favourites but as ever lyrically incredible and the story telling is second to none like most of that early stuff.

I've got back into Last Shadow Puppets recently. Blew my head they were writing that stuff at 20 years old.

Today would’ve been my old band mucker’s 63rd birthday..
    Dave Kusworth.

& it’s also the 17th anniversary of Nikki Sudden’s death..

It doesn’t get more truly indie than this. God bless us poor sinners.. :(

Very nice, thanks, not heard that before. Reminds me of Johnny Cash for obvious reasons.

TOM ROBINSON BAND - 2-4-6-8 MOTORWAY

Great riff, great lyric, great bass. Sometimes there's nothing better than slapping some music on and hitting the road.

    ASH - GOLDFINGER

Yes, Girl From Mars is better known, but this beauty from their first full album is an absolute belter. No idea what they're on about like, but drinking bottles of wine whilst it chucks it down is fine by me.
