2/. A couple of the best players (or most popular with regards to nardiello) left.

Name the "best players" that left? I'm assuming you mean the players in this list:

Dale Tonge (Rotherham), Marc Richards (Port Vale), Antony Kay (Tranmere), Neil Austin (Darlington), Paul Hayes (Scnuthorpe), Daniel Nardiello (QPR), Paul Heckingbottom (Bradford, loan), Thomas Harban (Bradford), Nathan Joynes (Bradford), Colin Healy (Cork), Robbie Williams, Peter Rajczi, Ryan Laight, Nathan Jarman.

The only player's I can assume you are referring to in the list are Nardiello and Kay. Possibly Hayes but not a regular last year either way.

We have strengthened. More competition for places in midfield where we have 2 players for each position (barring the wing which is being looked at now). Also there were only 2 players that started that no-one knew about. On that pitch we had 2 current international players and 3 more with solid Premiership experience. A bit more credit where it is due I think for the signings made so far.

We replaced Austin with Kozluck, a swap 95% of people would agree with. We also replaced Kay with Nyatanga, again a 95% swap I believe. We're still looking to replace Nardi but again I'd have, on first glances, Odejayi for Richards.

Davey has had a clear-out. He got rid of the dead wood and will turn it around. Remember there is another 2 weeks until end of the transfer window. We'll have another Centre Half, Winger and Striker I believe.

If we don't the squad will manage. Realistic expectations people, please.

And to say they were unknown could be a little unfair.

Afterall we've all closely watched the careers of mostto, werling, souza, muller etc haven't we, we know a lot about them.

Oh and by the way, apart from the wings we have 2 players for every position in midfield. So that would be the one remaining position called central midfield.

perhaps I imagined the 200k on Odejayi, the 170k on Muller, perhaps we should have given the blunts the 300k we would probably have had to pay for Kozluk or wolves for Rickettshad they been under contract or perhaps paid Derby a fee for Nyatanga's services etc</p>

No better than what we had? how on earth have you made that judgement on 45 mins of the first league game where we did not have either of the right backs available that will be challenging for the position.</p>

FFS I cant get my breath sometimes.</p>

I won''t claim everything is hunky dory - we need a new centreback to replace Reid at the least and another striker - but to write 'em off after one poor 45 mins is pathetic.</p>

My point, which you gladly refused to note, is that everyone is saying we have signed a bunch of unknowns. Ricketts, Kozluk, Nyatanga, Johnson and on a lesser scale of Odejayi are not unknowns. We have signed 10(?) players. That's half who the majority will have heard and probably even seen play. Hardly all unknows eh?

And if you read again, I pointed out that the wing is the only place without competition. Something that is being addressed.

Moaning for moaning's sake comes to mind.

But we have not strengthened the team at all , just made it taller, Nyatanga is not a replacement for Kay, they were BOTH here last season and he is only here on loan again. Is Johnson better than Togwell? Mostto is looking like a poor mans Nards to be honest so far.
I hope to God that things will improve , but after listening to the things Davey has said about us being fitter etc. how can we believe anything he says? We still cant defend, cant pass, cant even head the ball to each other. This is after pre-season get togethers and training, what are the fans supposed to do? Just accept that we reap what we sow or do we complain about the product we are offered?

If we had played at least half decently I dont think anyone would have any complaints. The shame is we were utter ***** and were lucky not to have 7 or 8 put past us.</p>

I am really trying to take some positives as I was thinking we might have something following the Wigan game.</p>

We didnt make any effort to play football at all whereas against Wigan we looked like we were going to be a footballing team again.</p>

Thats what I dont get , how could anyone take any solace from the game Saturday?</p>

Everyone on here wants us to do well , and I imagine that if we get positive results in the next 2 or 3 games then the mood will change.</p>

Oh, also...

Why would people want to come and watch a team battle for midtable? It's not the club's fault that they can't compete with the best, but people know that realistically we haven't a prayer of getting anywhere near the top.

For some fans, this doesn't bother them. But for those who we've lost over the years, they won't come back for mid table.

I think we have signed some footballers , so why doesnt Davey get them playing football instead of lumping it?</p>

but I simply cant see the point in the OTT negativity.

some people just can't wait to get the knife in.

And as for the lumping it thing I think we played a bit of a mixed bag but it has to be said we were less effective when we did hit it long to Ferenczi. I won't make the best of Mostto playing like that.

Having said that I think the two worst players on Sat were Reid & Devaney - Werlings limited but disastrous appearance asside.

Patience is the key with a side with so many new faces.

Still can't understand why Devaney comes in for so much stick! He had a good first half, granted, he looked knackered in the second but, overall, he was one of our better players...

The solace I took personally was the 30 minutes spell in the first half when we got the ball out on the wing and with Howard and caused some problems.

Again, Coventry played to their strengths which turned out to be our weakness. We won't come across many teams las well drilled/physical as Coventry.

Would love Elliot Ward in our defence though.

I think the negativity seems OTT because the &quot;positivity&quot; for want of a better word was OTT the other way.</p>

Instead of just waiting and seeing with respect to the players , we were being told we had signed quality when we have no idea as to how good the players will turn out.</p>

Everybody on here wants us to win and play well , at least I hope so , but being accused of not getting behind the team or being negative just because you raise questions seems an odd way to go about things .</p>

He got the results from a poor squad this year.

We can only really judge him over the next 2/3 months with his own players once the squad is finished.

 

A lot people are not just rasing questions

they are just saying the players we have brought in are *****, Davey is ***** etc. and as for OTT positivity I cant remember that much - maybe some optimism but again nothing anywhere near the level of negative B*ll*cks on here.

Every manager / chairman alive says the players he's brought in are quality - they are hardly likely to say "I've brought in this journeyman, hes a bit crap but the best we can get" and even so I can't remember being told we'ld signed world beaters.

Its a fact of football life that unless you are paying out millions that out of say 12 players brought in maybe one will turn out to be very good, maybe three will be good, four average and the other four will be ***** and even forking out serious dosh does not prevent a manager from wasting it.

...was the fact that it was the first game of the season and I didn't give a toss. And that hurts.

 

Wolves didn't want Ricketts at all.

They paid &pound;250K to us for McIndoe to replace him, remember? Pay &pound;300K for Ricketts?Not even 300p I'm afraid, get your facts straight for once.

 

He was out of contract, had he been under contract we would undoubtedly had to pay a fee. How much do you think it would have been for ex premiership, experienced championship player? Oh thats it, 300p.
