Pretty simple. I imagine the likes of Rosler and Adkins were looking for jobs at clubs higher up the league structure than ours. That's what I take it to mean anyway....?

Yes. According to my sources Adkins was waiting for an opportunity at a club further up the football pyramid than us. He's now stuck in an application for the vacant Oldham job.

It has been clarified that James Cryne has nothing to do with affairs at Barnsley. As the gaffer says it is a monstrous lie.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

That's almost council speak, so allow me to translate.

"We approached the ones fans wanted in an attempt to placate them, but they weren't interested in joining a club so far down the leagues. So the one we've ended up with wasn't our first choice, but we tried, we really did."

How to sell your new manager and make him feel really welcome, lesson one. Top class PR. Well done.

That's how I see it too. I reckon if Adkins or Rosler were allowed to be known as the Manager and have the full control you'd expect of a manager than we'd now have one of those two in charge.

I read it to mean others wanted complete control of all aspects of the football side including bringing their own team of staff and coaches with them. This obviously didn't fit in with the vision of the club PC outlined at last week's Q&A session whereas Johnson bringing his own assistant and accepting that the academy and recruitment wasn't part of their remit did fit.

Yes that's how I see it as well.

Plus - I think the transfer negotiations have also been taken out of the hands of the coach - but that's not to say that the coach doesn't identify the players he wants - and then its up to the directors and Ben to sort out if they can afford the player and then negotiate with the player to bring him in.

In affect - the coach has been given just one responsibility and that is to work with and prepare the first team - which in my mind is great news
