Best GK at the club, talk of dropping him is ridiculous. Best keeper since Watson in my opinion, makes outstanding saves week in week out.
No player is bigger than the club If a player's form does not justify a place in the starting line up, then he shouldn't be selected in my opinion.
Far superior to both Colgan and Steele However, he's been making a number of costly mistakes due to not being on the top of his game.
very muller is crap on crosses, if it is a cross close to his goal he simply cannot deal with it (not sure why) if it is a cross further out he punches it which often falls to an attacking player (though he hasn't done this as much in recent weeks). his shot stopping is excellent but so was colgans and so is steeles. I think that shots that steele or colgan would save and people would EXPECT to be saved are made to look special by muller by the way that he dives, he will dive low then reach up and tip it away with an outstretched hand and i'm left thinking why didnt he just dive higher like most keepers and use both? or he'll throw his legs up into the air and reach down to save with one hand, steele would just dive down and use both. it's probably just how he dives due to his size but it does make things look more impressive than if anyone else had made the same save.
I struggle to see the part of his game that he is better at than steele, apart from looking taller. Yes he looks big which is impressive but does he really use that height to full effect? I'd have to say that the answer is no, him being taller doesn't really bring us any advantage over steele who is no worse in the air than muller, in fact i'd say he's better, certainly better on crosses
As I've always said Heinz Muller is the best goalkeeper, in my opinion, I've seen play for Barnsley. That doesn't blind me, though, to some of the costly mistakes he's made. I have no doubts whatsoever that he'll regain his form. There are times when I wonder whether some people criticise him simply because he's a Simon Davey purchase and, as they don't rate Davey (I don't either, for what it's worth), they appear keener to question of his buys.
Completely baffled why anyone would want him dropped, our lack of goals is making people look elsewhere in the side for other problems. Fact of the matter is if Davey was a little more positive and attack minded we may actually win the odd away game and it in turn would take the pressure off of the rest of the side.
Both Colgan & Steele Rarely venture out for a cross, neither command the area like Muller. In my opinion, the defence seem to have a greater air of confidence about them when Heinz is between the sticks. Also, Muller is more aware of opportunites to quickly get a counter attack moving when the ball's in his possesion. I know many people will disagree with me, but, on this occasion, I'm sticking to my guns.
Not sure if he's far superior to Steele Don't get me wrong, I think Muller is a good goalkeeper, but I think Steele is a good goalkeeper too. Personally, I wouldn't have dropped Steele when we did. And one thing is for sure: Muller has made more mistakes since he came back into the team than Steele has ever made for BFC.
Could be much worse - we could have David James Is he really the best English keeper we have? He's absolute garbage.
He must keep the number one jersey... we have looked better defensively since he came back in although he has made a few mistakes. But by the same token he has saved us a fair few points and saves that Steele (Scott Jones) would not have made. I feel we are missing Moore at the back and are having to resort to playing full backs that are not up to it, plus Kozluk being out of form too.
RE: did i read that wrong or did you say we should play a keeper Yes you did read that wrongly. I wasn't saying we should. But the club as a business will want one of their most saleable assets on show, particularly if they have the intention of cashing in on said asset in the January transfer window. Otherwise it would be like you putting a 'for sale' sign on your car and then leaving it out of sight in the garage.
