Have to admit, his selections baffle me at times and although I think his signings are mostly decent, there are a few that arent or at least dont look it, and we're still exposed in certain positions. That said, both of the above criticisms could be out of his control to some degree, and our recent run has given more cause for optimism now he's got a full squad at his disposal. Can he get us into the top half? Major achievement if he did.
Won 7-1 at Workington John Peachey got 3, Peter Price 2, Bob Doyle & John Saunders 1 each. Fourth Division away days, real fans, real football.
Actually, I'm dead chuffed he appears to be turning things round Barnsley FC doing well is far more important than my ego needing to be proved right. His handling of the Iain Hume episode has been exemplary, in my honest opinion.
RE: Happy days Cant remember where we were drinking, i recall i was that hammered, me and my mate were in the end behind the goals and decided to simply walk to what was theyre main stand, and have a seat, we did wityhout anyone challenging us, i think there was a small fence but we opened the gate and walked to the main stand and sprawled out over the seats for the rest of the game, we were steaming... like you said, happy days
This board is bi-polar though... ... lose three and it's Davey out...and if you disagree you're a heretic</p> ...win three and others say 'told you so'</p> Lose three more and the Davey out crowd will be 'told you so' to the 'told you so brigade' (seestars) </p> Let's have patience because with all the 'Davey in/ Davey out' it's begining to feel like the feckin hokey cokey</p> </p> </p>
Football has a habit of making you look a bit daft if you express a strong opinion either way. Im more guilty than most, but I'll never park mesen on the fence, just havent got the balance for it.
RE: Pay attention. We've actually won 5 in the last 6 weeks and moved towards midtable in the division.
Tel Aviv Maccabi friendly 1969 2-1 for Barnsley, after being 1-0 down at half time. Barnsley had to play in blue shirts, as Tel Aviv had only brought a red kit. Hearts of Oak friendly 1970, won 10-1 and some of the African players played in bare feet. By the mid '90's, Hearts of Oak had become the African Club Champions. Gudja United (3rd Division champions of Malta) friendly 1975, won 16-0. John Peachey scored 5 goals.
RE: Tel Aviv Maccabi friendly 1969 "Gudja United (3rd Division champions of Malta) friendly 1975, won 16-0. John Peachey scored 5 goals." I was there too, I was convinced we were going to walk the league after that match.
We struggled to get 16 goals by Christmas! We even managed to get knocked out of the cup by blooming Marine!
RE: We struggled to get 16 goals by Christmas! That was a good day out in Scouseville pity the football ruined it. Another for Micky Butler wernt it?
