Just stop it now - all of yer! Nobody likes anybody else's music. It will always be a problem.
Coccoon it has been for over a decade, and Coccoon it must remain. Yes - I know its origins but it's OUR tune now. If two of the country's, and Europe's biggest clubs can survive on Z Cars, and the theme from a Rogers and Hammerstein musical, then we can live with ours too. Move on.

RE: Just stop it now - all of yer!
That's precisely what we are trying to do. The 'Stronger Together' campaign signals an intention to work with the fans to make the club more successful bothon and off the pitch. OK, so one song ain't gonna make a whole lotta difference, but a considerable number of peoplehaveput forward alternatives to 'Cocoon' over the last few weeks, which suggests that the fans don't think that this songis representative of where the club is at this moment in time. I will always hold fond memories of 'Cocoon' but itbelongs toa past era in our club's history and now is the time to bring Barnsley F.C. into the 21st century with a few subtle, but not wholesale, changes.

RE: Just stop it now - all of yer! Have other clubs changed their theme tune in the name of moving on?
Every so often the subject raises its head, and everybody wants their own vision of what a running out song should be about. It really isn't important IMO.

We both agree that one song won't make a world of difference, but if it generates debate (this is a fans' forum after all) and appeases the fans, then where's the harm in having the discussion?
I suppose .. there isn't really. Your post count suggests you are not a frequent visitor to the BBS, I dunno. My feeling is, this is something that is debated hotly at least once a year and I suppose I'm just gerrin' a bit weary of it.
For my part, good or bad, a run out song becomes part of a club and its attendant history. Ours is fairly decent as a run out tune and is better than a lot. To ditch it is to wipe away the past, and that is almost like continually changing the manager. As I said, Everton is associated with a 60s detective theme and Liverpool with a Hollywood musical. I don't want to change now to Fred's adagio for this, or somebody else's rock theme for that. It will satisfy somebody but there will also be loud cries of "*****" from others. Yeah, I know, miserable git.....go on.....

only reason I started this debate was i tryed to put myself in the mind of a footballer as opposition in oakwell that tune isnt intimidating and the fans dont seem to clap anymore like they used so that was my choice what i put at the start of the thread
I agree It's ****, but at least it's our ****. There's a million songs I prefer but nobody else would want them. Similarly, I don't care for any that have been suggested.
Itneeds to be something uplifting and intimidating like... O Fortuna From Carmina Burana or Ride of the Valkyries or even Star Wars March (maybe no intimidating but at least uplifting) OR The Theme From JAWS!!!!
What about that Escala bird group (Britains got Talent) with the violins. The music that sky are playing to promote football at the moment.
RE: Itneeds to be something uplifting and intimidating like... as opposed to an 80s electo pop tune....
Gotta be 'Ready to go' by Republica, if i remember right York had it the other week, very upbeat and will get everyone going.
