UPDATED SPRADSHEET with errors fixed <img src = "http://www.fencecrasher.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/filloakwell.JPG">
Even at half price I do not think you would find another 11000 who wanted to buy a season ticket! The present price structure does not keep 11000 away from Oakwell! It is quality of player, quality of division, quality of opposition that bring people to see a game regardless of the price! Your scheme might attract 1000/1500 even more fickle than what is there already. Couple of poor results and they would be gone! It would be economic suicide!
On this basis approx 8700 attendance is where the current situation makes more money But i thought this club was about providing football to the community!
yes it would be difficult to attract more but once they have paid the money they aint not going to come are they?
RE: yes it would be difficult to attract more but if you dont attract them in the firts place they are not going to pay!!!
top idea and I'd certainly sign up for a half price s/t. I only gave mine up cos the number of midweek games I'd take a half day off work to see an appalling game. and the likes of Washday always being re-arranged for Sunday. as Jay said, I think 12000 is more reasonable a figure. I await the club's reasoning as to why we can't be in the vanguard of cheap footie for the community. But 6800 home fans for "Category A" Oldham says it all to me. The present pricing policy ISN'T working.
The price would have to be pushed up for a lower figure If its going to be done then we want a BIG figure >12000 to make ti worthwhile! <img src = "http://www.fencecrasher.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/filloakwell.JPG">
RE: what would happen if people couldn't / refused to pay? it has to be done right with a non refundable deposit should the system go ahead or something! Im sure the correct legal stuff for contracts could be put in place. Its fun working with the spreadsheet - if we got 20000 we cold sell season tickets for 100 quid! lol Not that we would get so many mind! Look at the story of the guys down south - they travelled to France to watch a game that was 5 pound a chuck! Thin kof all the neutrals we could attract who just want to see a game of footy on a saturday afternoon.
Good idea I think its a great idea, not much risk and just imagine the atmosphere! Unforunately I can't see the club doing anything like this. They only seem to want to do ideas that have been tried and tested... Still great idea, I hope you do send it to the club!
RE: Good idea The cub could write to ex season ticket holders and do some market research on what price fans would pay for a season ticket.
Omen - just had a quick look at this - have you factored in... .... the increased cost of security and policing the club may have to pay as a result of all areas of the ground being populated?
RE: Imagine buzz of walking to well every week with a good crowd always there. We'd be like toon Like toon? No atmosphere?
Great Idea This is in all honesty a great idea in principle however the club or any business for that matter would not be able to function with this in reality. Every business needs to forecast its incoming and with so many loopholes within your scheme it would be impossible for the club to do this. What i mean is for instance up to 2 weeks before the season starts the club has sold 14000 season tickets (which would leave the club 2000 short) the club would still be in limbo to exactly how much money it would be taking in as i am sure that if we do not sell the required level half of the apparent tickets sold would cancel. This in turn would make signing new player/extending contracts of own players next to impossible as the club could not forecast on figures. I think the idea has some positives that the club could use and the only way this could work as a full scheme would be for the season tickets for next year being sold early i.e. just sfter xmas with say a july 31st deadline at the latest.
Bigger crowds = better support [?] = better performance = better results = bigger crowds ... = more money = better players = better performances = better results = bigger crowds etc etc
You could have a sliding scale 6000 fans = 250 8000 fans = 220 10000 fans = 190 12000 fans = 160 Still not sure it would work but would there be any harm trying ? Also I assume you are leaving match day tickets at £20ish ? As if you drop these you wold have to drop away fans prices.
How many season tickets did we sell in Division 1 post Premiership? I'd like to see your figures with much lower season ticket sales. Say 11000. I know I'll get pasted for pissing on your parade, but 16000 season tickets is a little steep even at half price. I'm sure the people who did the costings for the Millenium Dome thought it was reasonable to assume 50% of the country would attend, meaning it made a fortune.
i think policing and stewards are the only real areas they would have to increase staff The staff behind the food counters are already packed out to maximum and cant really serve any more.
