We went to the Lincoln one. Some of the same stallholders they had at Chatsworth. The one we bought Christmas puddings from was moving on to Alton Towers. It was mainly food stalls and mulled wine with the rest being craft gins, crafted bits of wood and the usual Christmas tat. Won't be going again.
We went to Nottingham last Sunday, it was absolutely rammed, like coming out of a football game walking round.
Not sure but I think someone posted earlier, about 2 weeks ago that Leeds couldn't afford a Christmas market this year . I could be wrong mindst.
I don't know about Leeds but generally these events are not particularly organic... as in benefits of twinning etc... usually they are just German owned companies flogging a pop up event at high cost to Councils here.
The NHS diagnostic hub is to expand into 3 adjacent units to also offer MRI and CT scans. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/24390/nhs-facility-to-expand
Apart from the nhs taking up a little more space have we any movement on any of the other vacant units does anyone know? Had a walk through this morning and since the museums left its quite noticeable the amount of empty units now also I know it’s not in the Glassworks but quality save has been bought by home bargains and the peel street store is one of the first to transition over
I always thought Home Bargains and Quality Save were the same operation with a different name. Virtually everything they sell is the same at the same price and the stores have logos that aren't entirely dissimilar
I don’t have any Glassworks updates, but I do know the former museum unit near the car park entrance is under offer. I think there’ll be an announcement soon on occupiers for some of the units. One update I do have is that the former Pizza Hut at the Peel Centre is going to be converted to a Popeyes Drive Thru - subject to planning approval.
Quality save was an independent company but had an agreement with home bargains (tj morris) who basically supplied them everything but they couldn’t open stores near each other since the owner of quality save passes away hole bargains basically tore up the agreement and forced the sale to themselves. so yes to the customer apart from new signage nothing much will really change it’s more internal
Popeyes is a surprise I must admit. They’ve only just opened one in psrkagte I believe which is the first in Uk?
If they’ve partnered with a franchisee for Rotherham it’s easy to use the same franchisee to rapidly expand. It’ll be a similar approach to what happened with Taco Bell I expect.
Not Glassworks related as such, but doesn’t really warrant a new thread, and both have been discussed on here previously. Work has now started to convert the former Pizza Hut unit into a Popeyes Drive Thru. The council approved the revised plans to accommodate the changes required by Popeyes the other week. They’re already recruiting for some roles so I’d expect it to be open by early Summer. Still no updates to the planning application for Burger King at Stairfoot (it’s been sitting with the council since November 2020) so I’d say that one is looking unlikely unless changes can be made to the road layout.
