The Salt House on the verge of reopening, they’ve put a statement out UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP We are thrilled to share that The Salt House has new ownership, effective immediately! We're here to bring you the same incredible vibes that you've come to love, and we've got some exciting NEW ideas in store too! We've managed to retain most of the previous staff's jobs, ensuring that the familiar faces and great service you know will still be here. Additionally, we've taken the initiative to pay back the previous tenant's arrears, giving back public funds that were owed. It's part of our commitment to making a fresh start and a positive impact on the community. We want to address any previous customer bookings as well. We are actively going through all bookings, so please expect a phone call from us as we work through this process. Our aim is to either retain your booking or facilitate a deposit refund. Stay tuned as we'll be introducing ourselves very soon, along with an official opening date and all the amazing plans we have to continue building on this fantastic venue We ask for your continued support and to please see this as a fresh start for The Salt House. We can't wait to serve you again and make more unforgettable memories together! Warm regards, Luke & The Salt House Team
Good news, it had killed the square closing. Hope someone takes over Black and White and refurbs it, he made a right balls up of the space in that bar and it was freezing with the doors opening all the time someone stood near the sensors. They need to change the way Salthouse worked as well, cordoned off the empty upstairs every weekend for private functions with hardly anybody attending them.
LED strip up the new bridge lift shaft is a nice touch, it should change to red on a matchday. Hope there's further lighting strips on the main section, things look ten times better in the dark - lit up.
An article here from the Chronicle about the new owner. https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/article/26728/light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel-for-troubled-bar
They need to have a word with whoever controls this account https://twitter.com/TGWBarnsley Xmas Market opened today by the way... You would have thought a bit of build up on the day showing stall getting prepared etc wouldn't have gone a miss. Nothing on there for nearly two weeks. Under 3000 followers in a borough of a quarter of a million.
I don't understand why, whoever makes these decisions, hasn't done this before for an all year round shuttle from the Oakwell car park up to the hospital on a daily basis. Gawber Road / Pogmoor Road are an absolute mess at visiting times.
There was, we made a big thing of it at the time, but no idea if it still runs, and if it does, if it carries fresh air.
I might have completely imagined this but I get the feeling that I saw a van/minibus parked up at oakwell during the day midweek a few months back with something on the side that suggested it was a western park shuttle bus but like I said I may be completely imagining that.
You've not imagined it. The Weston Park shuttle has been running for a couple of years from Oakwell. https://www.westonpark.org.uk/news/barnsley-transport-service-hits-the-road
Few hours in the Christmas Tipi and in the square tonight, plenty about and the tipi was standing room only - woman behind the bar said its been rammed all day. What an error not having the tipi for the Christmas market, still plenty of space for stalls.
Is there any info on the potential interested parties for the remaining units in the glassworks? Reports showing that there are discussions now on going for the remaining units including the recently announced potential dental practice https://www.wearebarnsley.com/news/16321/glass-works-talks-underway-on-remaining-units
Surprised something like Alchemist as not took the unit next to the Salthouse, prime position with outdoor seating
