That unit is the smallest of the four in that row. It’s the narrowest and is even narrower at the back because Nando’s nicked part of it. It’s too small for an alchemist or slug and lettuce I’d say. I suspect the preference for the council is for it to be used as a restaurant rather than another bar.

Travellers probably stripped the cables out when they were on there.

Any news on Black and White? I would have thought that the success of the other bars in the square companies would have been snapping up the space - surprised someone like Alchemist have not moved into one of the spare units.

I hope they make a better job than True North have with the one upstairs.

The front of the building is brilliant, it's back in use, well it's open. The space used for the performances is rubbish, we had a look around the day it reopened and nearly everyone there had said the money would have been better spent turning it back into the theatre it was once with the stalls etc before the false floor was put in. I also grew up with the old civic manager, he gave up on it 20 years ago, he moved to London and now works in the West End.

Barnsley is doing brilliantly. I enjoyed a couple of visits to the centre over Christmas and New Year and it's doing so well.

Compare to here in Huddersfield where in our first full week of the year have already announced a number of closures.

Well known brands struggling here. Not your upstart type brands.
