Re: no mate not at all

Correct. Blur were far, far better musicians than Oasis, and certainly on a par with The Kinks. This thread leads me to the question - can non-musicians call a band s**t? Not liking a band/artist is a matter of opinion, but to call someone rubbish surely takes some sort of expertise in the subject?

    No? Yes? Discuss.

Peter Gabriel was to Genesis, what Syd Barrett was to Pink Floyd. And Albarn/Coxon are one of the great British songwriting partnerships. And the Gallaghers are cnuts. The end

    Re: he was the Genius

You spelled the name of your God wrong. And God should have a small g in this context. Will you be punished?

My first job after moving to London many years ago, was working for Ozzy and Sharon at their flat/offices in Maida Vale. I was the cleaner and general handy person, £5 hr, which actually wasn't bad for menial work back then. I also had to sign Ozzy's photos for the fans, sorry kids.

Sorry, it was meant to be @DT for his comment about Collins having a dig at Gabriel on Abacab. I agree incidentally. Musically it was more progressive, but not as good to listen to on the whole.

Modern Prog Rock & Metal is superb btw :) Porcupine Tree to name but one.

Never heard of Porcupine Tree. I really must find out about them. Yes I do enjoy prog rock and such but my forte has to lie in the older Heavy Rock genre. Top of the pile for me has to be Pink Floyd but I do enjoy listening to anything new.

Oh 'eck. The proggies are falling out over proggie music. They'll have their poppets and replica swords out next. Can't you get Richard Harris in to settle this? Or Gandalf?

Porcupine Tree are excellent :) If it's rock you want try Deadwing. If it's Pink Floyd then The Sky Moves Sideways.

Loads of excellent new prog rock out at the moment., it's where rock went when it died off in the charts.

Thought Steven Wilson had gone solo and that Porcupine Tree was at an end as a result. Agree though, Porcupine Tree were very good, but there are many more who are their equal. Try IQ or Magenta or Gazpacho or The Enid or RPWL or Riverside or .......
