Never thought of forward planning - the LEA does -see http://www.barnsley.gov.uk/education/timetable.asp
Talking of holidays though If other authorities aren't having holidays at that time then you could get a cheaper holiday on the first week cause it isn't during the main period for school holidays!
You ain't seen the half of it yet Under the proposal to move to a four term school year, with a much shorter summer holiday, and a two week holiday after three out of the four terms, parents will find that, as Easter is flexible, changing as it does each year, it will frequently be the case that the kids work until the Thursday before Easter, and go back on the Tuesday after Easter Monday. The only reason that schools will be closed for those two days is that teachers are as much entitled to Bank Holidays (Public Holidays) as everybody else. So very rarely, due to coincidence, not planning, families will get two weeks at Easter. They will still get a two week holiday, but not built round the traditional religious festival of Easter. Which I am sure will suit most people better.
