There were more than 500, bout a thousand I'd say. But yeh im being a bit generous there, 500 and we'll be very lucky.
Can you remember walking down from the train station at Wednesday? Thousands of Red and white fans , all heading for Hillsbro. It was just like walking down Oakwell Lane.
errr £25 to £30 per ticket compared with maybe a couple of quid... & if you wern't around then let me assure you we were fecking outstanding. Played the best football I've seen except for maybe 96/97 but it's a close thing.</p>
RE: Can you remember walking down from the train station at Wednesday? aye I parked my car up behind the station.
Yeh I understand that, but, 1.I don't know about the rest of you but ill pay anything to watch them, 2.Youve gotta be there when were bad aswell as good. And no I wasnt there, I'm only 16 but my dad always goes on about how good we were in the Glavin days.
I stand corrected we were on the other end that match. I can rember seeing Ian Banks play for them at their ground too, unless I am going completely gaa gaa.
Nah, the top part was not full but there wernt too many empty seats really. Was pretty much like birmingham last year.
we only had the cow shed end because we took it over lost 1-0 didnt we on a mon night, and they missed at least 1 pen, then i think we went to Northampton on the thurs and won, and then was it portsmouth away on the sat
oops just read that part of the thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but it was later in the early 80's when we lost our unbeaten run, not the best of grounds for us Leeds road
RE: we only had the cow shed end because we took it over We took a fair few to Northampton too, maybe around 2,000, as i seem to remember Barnsley fans occupying half the seats and the bulk of the terraces in front of the main stand - not to mention that bit of half-terracing behind one of the goals. It was also where Northants played their cricket wasn't it? Portsmouth was quite rough on the day we beat them 1-0. I think one of their fan's had a go at Clarkie and Phil Chambers was involved in a slight bout of fisticuffs at the end of the game. We seemed to be detained inside Fratton Park for an eternity. After that; it was the glorious night of the Grimsby match. Unbelievable scenes!
Think we lost 1-0 at 'udders feb 81 dave cowling scored for them, it did end our 20 match unbeaten run, i reckon we took about 10,000 to that one, might have been the weekend before 'boro away in the cup, or just after can't remember now, for biggest away following for a league game i'd have to go for hillsbrough nov 82 maybe 11-12000, filled the whole of the leppings lane, including the corners! 2-2 draw, banks and glavin notched for us.
RE: Think we lost 1-0 at 'udders feb 81 dave cowling and Parker got injured when he laid the ball on for Glavin.
