Not bad but goals win football matches. That squad has very few in it. Khaled needs to get his finger out ….

Everyone's tinkering around the edges here.

Today both Norwood and Aitcheson were completely blunt in everything they did up top. We could have beaten this lot today.

They will never be the answer to the problem of putting the ball in the net.

The rest of the team did quite well today - we were better than them. Benson seems to be doing a bit better.

Apart from Dike we have been bereft of a proper finisher - Woodrow and Morris included - for years.

Marsh is still too slow - whether he can rev up a bit I doubt tbh. Cole is too lightweight.

Just one Winnall-esque forward would do us. Not perfect, but a proper finisher.

Agree that Wolfe has his faults at the moment and agree with all you have listed, but each of those are a direct result of him being actively in the game.

Anyway, Connell is the least of my worries of the new signings. I can see a player there, just not a player who is up to speed with the division at the moment. And if all our midfield were fit then maybe he would be introduced gradually. I can also see why we signed Norwood, although I have always been concerned that we would never get him fit enough to have a significant contribution. Haven't seen anything at all in the two centre halves yet, but it's very early days. I also don't think it's an overreaction, as that is the title of this thread, to say it as you see it. I don't necessarily think McCarthy/Cundy are crap, I don't know yet, I haven't seen anywhere near enough of them, but I do think they have played crap so far.

You don't think Woodrow was a proper finisher? I think that was his best attribute. We hardly ever created chances, and other aspects of his game lacked severely at times, but I thought if a proper chance dropped for him he's snatch it up. He's the most natural striker of the ball we've had in years imo

He was well good to kick off with. The last 2 or more seasons he had lost something. Apart from from the penalty spot.

Yeah I can agree with that. The way we played under Val didn't help his cause, and then obviously last season he was a shambles with the rest of the squad

Under Val he did his dues by running about and closing down the defenders. Ran his blood to water.

Something went wrong somewhere with him though, as a striker.

My main concern at the minute is McCarthys confidence in distribution is low and the right side partnership with Williams doesn't look to have gelled and we looked wide open yesterday on that side of the pitch.

I think Cundy will come good Norwood will get a few goals, Aitchison will turn in to a top player for us but would be better off a front 2 rather than playing up top. Connell has done OK just Thomas and Benson have been better.
Cadden has quality if he ever gets fitness to match.

After the disastrous, car crash of the 2021/22 campaign, I think it'll take more than one transfer window to sort out the mistakes. No incoming player will be without weakness in their game, but I'm more concerned about their strengths. For me, Michael Duff is the man who can improve the players & take the club forward, although I do expect some set backs on the way.

Agreed. Another home win Tuesday hopefully and things will look a bit better. Need Iseka and Cole moved on and a more mobile striker up top with Norwood.

I must stick to the theme of the thread,
Very good performance from the whole team.
Cundy was decent and may have won his place back from McCarthy.
Styles is so definitely a left wing back and not a CM.
    Cole well done lad.
Kitching is a good league 1 defender and helps out Styles no end..
So not overreacting it was a as convincing perfornce as i have seen for a few years.
    Top man Duff.

    Wycombe.

Very impressive performance from Wycombe, they gave us no time and space. Scored great goals perfect away performance and Ainsworth deserves a lot of credit.
Aitchison should have comfortably scored in the first half which would have changed the game.

I wasn't expecting that today and Duff needs to learn from that and act quick.

Taking Connell off and moving Styles in to midfield were strange decisions

We are a leader on the pitch missing.

Our squad is fairly average for this level and I think we'll see some fairly average results. Hopefully in time some of the players will improve and some better additions will be made.
