I can see your point and I was at that game - but there were 2 old guys just along from me who couldnt stand for the whole game and couldnt see a thing - asked the guys in front to sit but they pointed out that if they did they couldnt see either. Its a systematic problem caused by banning standing - Ideally there would be an option to have really seated seats at the front and standing seats at the back but thats never going to happen. Id always prefer to stand at a game but I rarely do unless everyone in front is also standing ( or I am at Brentford - is it still terracing this season as well !)
Whether it generates an atmosphere or not it's disrespectful and illegal.. Anyone who can't stand for any length of time is subject to whether the people in front abide by the law as to whether they see the game or not. I know people who don't go to away matches anymore because of it. When standing was allowed you knew that a ticket in the stands were guaranteed a seating position for the entire match. The position now is farcical with clubs and law enforcements attitude to people standing and not respecting others .
I really don't see why standing is at all a problem at games such as Tuesday night's when there was plenty of empty space in the away end for folks who wanted to sit. Sit at the front if you don't want to stand, and if you happen to end up in a section thats standing then move, there was more than enough space with 3300 of us in a section that held 5000. Now at away games such as Sheffield United when there was no space for anyone to move then people saying it's unfair and selfish have a point. But that's just not the case with the vast majority of away games.
I just can't get my head around how anyone could stand in front of someone knowing that the person behind them couldn't see the game; incredibly selfish and unwarranted behaviour.
The part that grinds my gears the most about people standing is when they come back with "well move then if you dont want me standing in front of you" You move if you want to stand, you ****.
