I think the clue is in the question lol, saying you don't understand the hype from his/Jalo's cameo appearances.
That's the problem there full stop, he only gets minutes here and there, nowhere near enough.
And I'm glad some have mentioned the cheating that Hourihane used to do and get away with.
But we all thought that was funny then didn't we, apparently.

    I like Jalo.

But today annoyed me more than most other things.

You've just come on. You beat 2 players all ends up. Now you've just seen a team mate, Connell, do the same thing and get into a prime shooting position 10 yards from goal in a local derby, attacking the end your own supporters are at - except Connell has decided to play it out wide for reasons known only to himself. The chance is gone.

Do you a. Make yourself a legend by having a pop from 10 yards at best, or at least give yourself a chance of that by having a shot

Or do you b. Try and con the ref by throwing yourself over when in a prime shooting position.

Its a tough one, but our Fab chose the wrong option. I hope to God he learns from it.

This bugs me too. Every post that says "I don't get the hype" is just building the 'hype' they say they don't get.

He's a young lad who's clearly done well in the youth teams and earned himself a shot at senior football. He's shown in some of his cameos that he has ability, so how far he goes depends on how well he's looked after, how much application he has, and a fair chunk of luck. Same as any other young lad his age.

I don't think I've seen anyone have much of a different take, and I certainly haven't seen anyone suggest he's going to be a superstar. So there isn't any 'hype,' just supporters of a football club hoping that a young lad does well and encouraging him along the way. As it should be.

I’ve posted before that I’ve not seen enough to justify the hype up to now but the hypocrisy over diving baffles me.

Every week we see players cheating all over the pitch. Players nicking 10 yards at throw ins, defenders in possession facing towards their own goal throwing themselves down to ‘buy’ free kicks & not forgetting defenders shirt pulling constantly yet we’re supposed to be outraged at players diving.

It’s nonsense. You’re either against all cheating or you just accept it as part of the game but don’t get on your high horse about some forms of cheating but not others.

He does run ‘at the opposition’ and straight into them, or tries beating them for the umpteenth time, then either passes to them or hits the ball straight at them, I have yet to see him actually do ANYTHING constructive in a game…

totally agree, keep coming on as sub when we desperately need a goal just puts extra pressure on the lad.
And tbh I’d play a bloke with one leg before I’d pick Cosgrove again!

You must not have been watching on Tuesday then, when he showed excellent skill to provide the assist for Humphrys' goal and when he cut in from the right to hit a very good effort from distance, which just flew past the far post. And what about his superb goal from outside the box in the FA Cup last season?

Owen did precisely that and got two of our players sent off in that infamous 3-2 PL defeat in 1998.

I’m not overly impressed with his overall game tbh. He needs to concentrate on that, not diving.

Hard to judge when all he's been given is 10 mins here 15/20 there. Then you have Cosgrove probably 5x his salary starts week in week out and has 4 goals in 40 league one games for barnsley.

And as for the diving djangos right no one wants to see it but posters getting on their high horse after watching conor cheat and con refs in a barnsley shirt, Brad Collins time waste from the 1st half and the Chelsea keeper we have fake injury to buy time.

He's as many goals as him this season in less minutes so why not.

Jalo, Yogaanathan & Lofthouse are our best 3 propects as a club. We are playing with Sam Cosgrove up front. 27 years old and is the worst footballer I've seen since I startedc watching in 1975.

Is Jalo a striker, a winger or attacking midfielder? There probably should be a way to get him into the team instead of Cosgrove, because he really is v@nk.

I'm not sure he looks like he could play as a winger but we don't use them but giving him.10 minutes a game when our other more experienced strikers are offering nothing is no good to anyone.
So far this season sam cosgrove has played 783 minutes scoring one goal for a striker who came from the championship with some hype that's awful. He doesn't hold the ball up spends most of his time on the floor or giving away needless fouls. Then we have dkd, watters Marsh and Humphrys. I actually think Humphrys will be okay.
