Deadly serious. He played really well but didn’t take a number of chances. I remember Michael Chopra one game, he played superbly but missed a couple of chances and given some right hammer at the time. Chris Dagnall the same. It can happen. Where someone plays very well but misses a couple of chances. As I say, there are greater examples to use if you’re wanting to knock the lad.
He’s a striker, his job is to score goals. He cost his team a win that day, he missed three sitters. He didn’t play well at all. In fact probably the worst performance I’ve seen from a striker last season.
There’s a few things working against him 1. His finishing is very poor as demonstrated by the ‘xg’ stats (and my eyes) 2. he’s injury prone so will never have a good run of games If Conor is being ruthless (which he should be) we need to get shut. He’s been a dreadful waste of money.
I've wanted him to come good. He's looked the part on a couple of occasions but that is as good as he got. Definitely a confidence player, just never kicked on for long enough periods following a rare goal. Another one who might thrive elsewhere, but here's hoping Luca is right and that now is time to cut the cord and move with our best wishes.
I think Conor is too smart to pin his fledgling coaching career on the hopes of Max Watters coming good.
When Postacoglou first took over at Spurs he rested players and played a fringe team away at Fulham. They lost and were out of the League Cup. Paul Merson was in the studio and he said the attitude should be you've thrown your previous two managers under a bus you won't do the same to me. Off you go. The same applies here with Hourihane. If I were him I wouldn't be relying on any players present during the previous two regimes. Might take a couple of windows but the majority need clearing out.
The fact that Conor only won two out of the 11 games or so he was in charge at the end of last season tells you everything you need to know about this current squad. Agreed, needs a big clear out and get players in who want to be here (the other interpretation of the above stat of course would be that CH is a bad coach but sincerely hoping that's not the case)
I'd love him to come good. There's always players that mysteriously and miraculously come good when it was least expected so let's keep our fingers crossed ..... it could be Max's time.
Got pace and gets in the box but sadly there it ends...if any of the previous managers could have got a tune from him he would have been a half decent lg1 striker by now but the rabbit in the headlights look and the half second where he freezes just before striking tells ya he'll never make it. I did think he had summat and that he'd develop but unfortunately have to admit I was mistaken...sell asap
Can’t believe if this is true no one has picked up on that it’s quite a statement about our transfer aspirations this summer.
I can't believe no one has mentioned how much of a fanny he is. He absolutely will not challenge for any ball in the air. Painfully soft.
His aerial prowess is such that he managed to back head away from an open goal in the last home game against Shrewsbury. Quite a feat…..
I'm not anti-Max, I just think he's been a terrible signing for us and has shown consistently that he's not good enough at this level.
