Good point, but there's the coaching too. Most teams at that age have a 'star player' who coaches insist the ball must get to as quickly as possible. This sees so many youngsters scared to death of trying something themselves 'cos they're already under the impression that they're not good enough. Five years later, you've got a squad of players terrifed to hold onto the ball for longer than a split second. As for the 'talented one' - they rarely fulfill the potential or, if they do, turn into the sort of infuriating player who expects everyone else to do the hard work while they do a couple of back heels, stepovers and expect to take all the freekicks.
