1952 has always been a significant year for me. I was born the same year that the Queen’s long reign began. It’s always been in my mind that so long as HM stays on the throne then I’m alive as well.

Today she’s gone and this leaves a big hole for many. King Charles III - doesn’t seem real does it? Even less so is Camilla as Queen Consort.

Shhhh don't be coming out with your looney left nonsense, forget about Prince Andrew and forget about the energy crisis and the cronyism that's sweeping the workers of this country to one side

I have strong views against the monarchy but those are irrelevant.

she was a wonderful lady who devoted her life to the service of others, and set a tremendous example to many.

    rest in peace.

I recall when King George VI died. I was off school with whooping cough, and heard it on the radio. I ran into the kitchen and told my Mother. She didn't believe me until she came into the living room, and heard instead of the normal programme, their was marshal music being played on the radio.

nothing to give a rest. I've paid my respects to the queen. wasn't a comment on the queen or the monarchy. wasn't a pop at you either, so apols if it came over that way. I just despise Boris Johnson with every fibre of my being, so stuff like this triggers me. sorry, no offence meant.

    Fair enough you're right.

I should have said the Monarchy is unaccountable, undemocratic, unrepresentative, hereditary, unmeritocratic and a remnant of a feudal system that has no place in democratic society

96 years old and still working just two days before her death.

How many people can say that?

And she didn't have to. She could have passed all her duties on to Charles and william whilst remaining queen or she could have abdicated. She chose not to. She chose to continue serving the country and working I told two days before her passing at the age of 96. 96!!

At 14 she was trying to raise the spirits of evacuees, of which she was one, and gave a speech to tell them they were doing their part and trying to tell them everything would be ok.

At 16 she was undertaking royal duties.

At 19 she volunteered and joined the war, training as a mechanic and driver.

On her 21st birthday she pledged her life to the country by stating "I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong."

And she did. For the next 27,535 days she did just that. Working right up to her death 75 years later.

People can say what they want about the whole idea of the monarchy and royals, and I'm unsure exactly how I feel on that too But one thing that I'm absolutely certain about is that the Queen served our country to the end and conducted herself with grace and class throughout. Not once did she let this country down or shirk her responsibilities and for that she has my upmost respect and admiration.

The most disgraceful and disrespectful post I have ever seen on this board.

    RIP Elizabeth II
