I don't think he is that easy to get past. Agree he may get beaten once or twice a game (our wingers usually beat a full back 4 or 5 at least). It's just we notice it as no one seems to get past Williams and most of the play as a result focuses down our ride hand side. I actually think Scowen is just as good as white. White regularly stands off his man and let's crosses in which is as much a cardinal sin as being beaten. Think Hecky will start with Scowen. Anyone know how good Millwalls wingers are? Scowen has been up against so decent players so far. Personally think it would take a "Very Good" and tricky/fast winger to get the better of Josh. Deserves to start in my mind.
The greatest feeling I have is one of frustration, as Sunday can't come round soon enough for me. There's no fear, no apprehension. I have every faith & trust in Paul Heckingbottom, Tommy Wright and the rest of the coaching staff to get the players organised for Millwall. I have every faith & confidence in our players, based on their commitment to the cause and their abilities on the pitch. I'm proud of our club and how we've turned our season round so magnificently.
I'm with you on this. Why break the link with our current form even more than the long wait for the game subconsciously by changing the kit?
Scowen will be absolutely fine. They've been playing Ferguson on the left and he's a ball player not a winger. I'd only have any concerns if they brought on Onyedimna but he seems to be out of favour. Josh has been integral to our recent run and his contribution should in no way be underestimated in terms of Isgrove's pick-up in form.
I'm not worried about the game at all. Because whats the point being worried. We're the spectators. Nervous sure. I can see consequences of defeat and as Barnsley fans the pain of expectation has usually bitten us hard. That we've played so well and plans have been so effective gives us hope for optimism and expectation. But anything could happen on the day. We have quality. Millwall have different attributes, but none the less have proven to be effective. Let's not worry, let's not be complacent, let's hope, let's believe, let's support.
There's a very fine line between confidence and over-confidence; I just hope that we have loads of the former but none of the latter.
This is the nub. If we are our normal selves then the only way I can see us getting beat is through thuggery and/or limp refereeing. However, I am really unfazed as I think this is a really talented team and it's turned despair into absolute joy. In the end we might lose the game on Sunday but it's been a hugely enjoyable 2016 watching Hecky and this group.
I knew we'd get promoted way back in November, at the height of our rubbishness. I remember saying the same to the nurse, as I lay on my back in the stroke ward in Barnsley Gen.... Post of the day, Shirley??
Change of kit is my worry, be it unlucky or not why change what has worked so well and gamble on a whole new look.
I was still worried about Walsall when they scored their consolation to make it 5-1. I was a wreck the entire game. Sunday will be w@nk.
if it was just football I would be more confident but I think they will just try to hit us with loads of physical stuff bombard us with long balls and try to wind Hammill up
Scowen first played as an emergency right back against Burton away. Everyone feared the worst that day with White Bree and Smith all out injured. From then to now Scowen has played 7 times at right back during which we have won 4 and drawn 3.
Exactly my thoughts. Might only be a minor change but why change anything when things are going for you?
We keep the same 11 and lose and people will say we should have played White. We put White in for Scowen and move Williams to righ back and lose and people will say you don't change a winning team. Big call to make by Hecky.
I've been thinking exactly the same thing. So have many others I'm sure. We are a much better side than Millwall. They're no mugs, but we have been a different class these last few weeks. Yet all I have to do is think back to 2006. Looking at it objectively, Swansea were a better side than us. They were the better side in the final, including absolutely murdering us in extra time, yet somehow we won.
