I don't think he's as good as Luke Steele and as a result I don't think we'd pick up as many points across a whole season if Ben was in goal compared to Luke. As we managed to stave off relegation by just one point, I think we would have been relegated had we kept Ben in goal. It may have just been that we lost a game that we drew with Luke in goal, or drew a game that we won, but that would have been enough to see us relegated.

One more goal conceded in any of the away games at Palace, Cardiff or Forest, where we were under siege for 270 minutes with Luke Steele performing heroics, would have seen us relegated. I don't think Alnwick would have stood up to that. I don't think Flitcroft thinks he would either, or he would have played him.

Perhaps so but as keeping mistakes usually result in goals it isn't the position of patience endeavour or whatever we are calling it.

We were 19th, 3 points from the bottom 3. I checked by the way i'm not a mental case you remembers these things.

To be fair, after his performance against Forest he deserved dropping and i'd been sticking up for him for weeks prior to that. I just think Alnwick got off to a bad start because of his sending off against Rochdale and their was already animosity towards him because Steele wasn't recalled immediatly after recovering from injury despite being the POTY the year before.

I don't buy into this...he's too old at 28 ********..he's only just come into his prime, for a keeper. To me its plain and simple, Flicker and the 2 Ms, think for what he offers the club and the team..we've been paying him too much..can you get a keeper as good for half the money or less ? They must believe so. and I do aswell, maybe not Anick, but im sure theres plenty of decent keepers knocking about ...
My one and only problem with Luke was that, to me..he gave the impression that, he only stayed here because he was guaranteed first choice, never had proper back-up..which now, looks to have come to an end..If he stays then it wont be on his terms..which will be better for the club..

He nutted an opposition striker on his debut, then wasn't very good in goal. In a nutshell.

Luke's at the top of his game, that doesn't make sense.

Who's said he's too old? Prime age for goalkeepers is about early 30s.

Only started coming on the forum recently & can't believe people were giving Golbourne stick?

Me & the old man thought he was class from day one, superb full back at this level.

Can see why the others got stick to a certian extent.

Hasn't got a right foot, won't take a man on and can't cross it. Can't say I agreed with it.
