Wendy mate in local last night. "Oh well, we conceded 4 in a 10 minute spell Saturday and 3 in a 10 minute spell tonight...so we're improving. Leicester is next week....and it's away....
of course they will, we know how it works. And Pork Talk will suddenly be awash with play-offs still being a possibility if only Rohl doesn't abdicate to Liverpool.
I could have sworn that last night on Radio Sheff they said it was Leicester as they were pondering how much worse it could get this week. I bow to our greater knowledge over theirs.
To a lot of them reality is sinking in but some are still seriously deluded. Here's a post from Pork Talk "In terms of potential, as previously mentioned we are in the top 20 clubs in England but to realise this we need an owner who has the financial backing and most importantly the know how, someone like Red Bull would have us challenging for Europe inside 5 season"
Red bull are hated in Germany as they own Leipzig and other clubs feel they are trying to buy the league, although red bull apparently gives you wings so pigs might fly after all
Love the part about financial backing. How much money has the owner spent on that club? Must be many a million now and they still complain.
About 150-165 million if i remember correctly, from a month or 2 ago when it was on the radio mate...
I’m in my mid-30’s & can barely remember them in the premier league. They get gates of about 25k & that’s off of a promotion season where they were full of optimism. They’ll probably get less coming to matches next season. They get smaller gates than Derby in the league below but I’ve no doubt that if you asked them they would all say they’re a far bigger club than Derby & other clubs like Wolves, Norwich, Ipswich, Southampton, Leicester etc even though all of these get bigger attendances. They just need to accept that Wednesday are now a smaller club than they used to be because a lot of clubs have overtaken them. There’s probably close to a third of football fans in this country who have no recollection of them being a top flight club. It’s only like us. 20 years ago we were a mid table championship club by size but plenty of clubs like Brentford have had backing & spent the money well & overtaken us.
Their attendances are a mythical beast, they last averaged over 30,000 in 1968, l seriously don't know where this big attendance thing comes from? https://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/shew.htm - Their ground is large but now run down. - FA Cup 1935, Top division 1930, League Cup 1990. One major trophy in 89 years. - they haven't been in the top flight in 24 years - their training facilities and Academy are behind us and Sheffield Utd. It's all a big myth...
One moaning on radio dee dar in a Twitter clip ,saying were not what local rivals say we are while mentioning when he was kid they were in Europe and the size of their away following oh the irony.
