We've won. So I'm preparing to tuck into my customary victory dinner of egg and chips. Yum yum, seize the day...
Totally understandable, but people forget how poor L1 is, and the gulf in quality from Championship. With leadership, graft and organisation, you’ve always got a chance. You don’t need world beaters in your team. The opposition is always gonna give you chances, and you’re always gonna get away with stuff you get hammered for in Championship. I’d take 6th every day of the week, at this stage of the season.
I always felt that some fans were overestimating this league, we've got a lot of players that we signed for the championship so it's no surprise to see them finding their feet in a division below, we need to find the winning habit and believe in ourselves then there's no reason why we can't be contesting for promotion.
As a Reds fan it’s about playing the hand you’re dealt. I really don’t mind us being competitive in a poor league as long as I see honest endeavour. Having experienced Division 4 football as a lad for years I’ve come to appreciate that the lows just make the promotions challenges no matter the league worth while.
Completely missing the point. It’s nothing to do with winning today - Cambridge are actually one of the better sides. I’m talking about the general standard. We’ve been poor a lot of the time this season, yet we are top six after nine games and have played three of the teams above us away from home.
On leaving uni I made a solemn pledge to never eat baked beans again. 40 odd years on I'm still holding the faith...
I think we look susceptible at the back and lacking cutting edge up top. .[/QUOTE] 7-2 last 3 away games against 2 top 4 teams and a team that has won all 4 of their home games.
It's a tight league. Win a game and we're in top six, lose a game and we'll be back in mid table. Granted there are some poor teams in the bottom half but Sunderland, Wigan and Rotherham are doing OK in the Championship so is there that much difference between top of league 1 and bottom of championship?
Cambridge were piss poor in attack . Our finishing from our strikers today was quality. 2 goals coming from front 2. That was a huge positive today. It wasn't a classic today . I really thought we looked much better when Cadden came on it looked like a back 4.
Aye, strange game. I didn't think we played particularly well, scored our first out of nothing really. I think we did just enough for the points, and the result flattered us slightly. Oddly though, the sending off changed the game for the better for us. Cambridge played a higher line, chasing the game with the man advantage, which opened up more space for us. It was the first time really Norwood has been given the ball at his feet in a bit of space, and finally you could start to see his quality. Edwards looks a very useful player. I'm looking forward to seeing him a bit more. Overall, a good result, another step in the right direction, and a very favourable league position at this early stage.
Great result and fantastic to get 3 goals but wow how bad was Cambridge’s defending for all the goals if that was us we would rightly be going ballistic.
I think what troffs describing is league 1. If the attackers were more lethal and the defenders more solid and the midfield more creative,,,, it wouldn’t be league 1. I seem to remember when we were last promoted from this league we didn’t concede too many goals, but that was in part due to the ineptitude of the opposition
