What you don't understand Jay And I think it's because you're outside of football - is that instead of working WITH the nucleus of what is a very good team, you must flood it with 'your' players and stamp your own unique style upon the team - no matter what that results in.

The best midfielder at the club played out of position, one of the best 2 defenders bombed out of the team. Carry on Mr Davey.

Barnsley FC can do no wrong in the eye's of tykeman he's like a little sheep following a shepherd. [img=http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/projects/trc/2006/manual/illos/sheep.jpg]
RE: Eckersley and McCann mistakes ? If I was picking based on current form my team would be: Colgan Hassell P Reid Nyatanga Hecky Devaney Togwell Howard K Reid Steve Richards If I was picking from everyone based on what I think our best team is it would be as follows: Colgan Hassell Kay Nyatanga Austin Devaney Togwell R Jones Howard Hayes Pete Subs Steve Lucas McCann K Reid P Reid
RE: Barnsley FC can do no wrong in the eye's of tykeman Didnt say that, Im sure they can improve things. Im just not negative for the sake of being so like you and a few others. Kay has been poor recently but on form is our best defender in my opinion. Do you accept the club is in a far better position now than 2 years ago? Yes / No answer required.
no the club appears to be in freefall right now. we have just signed a clueless manager up on an 18 month contract, a lot of fans feel alienated, gates are falling, the team spirit is non existent, players are being frozen out for inexplicable reasons and after the way that andy ritchie's sacking and simon davey's appointment was handled a lot of fans are finding it very hard to trust the board of directors. Now a few questions for you. 1. Do you think that Gordon Shepherd acted properly when he went on radio sheffield and said what he said about andy ritchie in public? 2. Do you think he was morally right to deny ritchie the chance to talk to a potential imployer only to sack him weeks later? 3. Do you think that andy ritchie simply refused to sign any players whatsoever or do you believe that he refused to sign players that he didnt believe would add anything to the squad apart from an additional wage (ie matthis etc)? 4. Do you believe that Simon Davey should have been given the barnsley manager's job after the sheffield wednesday game?
Competition is all well and good if its genuine competition. However apart from the two strikers who we have hardly seen , every player we have signed looks like a back-up at best.

Billy Teapot saw the first team train lately. They were playing 11 v 11. It's getting to the point that our 2nd team would hammer the first team: Colgan Hassell Reid, P Atkinson Eckersley Devaney Mattis McCann Howard Richards Pete Or ... Lucas Austin Lewin Kay Hecky Togwell Jones Tonge K Reid Hayes Istvan Tell you what - that would be a decent game.
RE: no can i answer some of those... a mixed bag... 1. not sure i would have done it that way - but, if i remember correctly the week before AR had been on the radio saying he couldnt get players in.... do i remember incorrectly on that? but my memory of sheps interview isnt great either. 2. yes. AR was under contract to barnsley, simple as. similarly, i think we've all merged two periods in our heads, or two decisions. shep said contract negotiations were ongoing with AR. loan window opens, AR doesn't bring in any loan players to supplement the v few players brought in over the summer. wednesday ask to speak to him - refused. loan window closing looms, AR, still not signed players and doesnt look like he will. decision then has to be made, i.e. change of postiion after wednesday 1st approcahed, change of position being, still no players in and time running out. therefore a decision then had to be made to sack AR. 3. yes, i think he had an awful lot of faith in HIS team, but the results simply werent good enough. i think his refusal to sign players in the loan window was the reason for his sacking. remember, AR hasnt said anythign to contradict what the club was saying, surely, if his reputation was being damaged by untruths then he would defend himself? further, it also shows the situation that the last week of loan window, leon knight, wallwork, mcann, and one other - for the life of me cant remember which one it was - were all brought in. the only one that didnt imporve the team was knight, was useless and disinterested when he was here. wallwork was a cracking signing, i think mcann has more to come... and someone help me, the 4th player? therefore, wallowrk and mcann shows quality was out there. 4. not surre. i was there, was a dreadful performance, but if such a peformance could change a chairmans decision that was based on a number of good performances/results previous to that, then surely he'd be accused of a knee jerk reaction. as a slight aside, i dont know whether davey is the right man, he may be a bloke who can grind out a result for the end of the season, who knows, whereas i think AR was an all or nothing type of manager - only time will tell. but can someone explain to me what davey sees in mattis, last game, certainly his 5 yard passes are neat, and to the feet, but seems to have little penetration. what does davey and kidd see that i/we dont?
any chance davey just thought kay needed a rest based on 2 or 3 bad peformances - get his fighting spirit back - and then be put back in the team?
i dont think mcann is back up? i dont think the 2 man u boys are back up either. certainly, however, the two new strikers i think may be class form what ive read about them...
Congratulations. You've just posted the biggest pile of w4nk in the history of the BBS. Don't be hurt about that - be proud ... you've just knocked spots off Roundsman, Shefftyke & Connie Jokeman. I salute you. Twas Kyel Reid, by the way.
whats ****** about it? and i am proud, maybe reasoned argument confuses you rather than basing comment on conspiracy therories, rumour and mist. thanks for reid - also a good player, thanks for reminding everyone of the 3 out fo 4 good players picked up on teh loan window in a matter of days.
FACT on its way: Patrick Cryne and Barry Taylor wanted Andy Ritchie sacked straight after the Palace game. how does that fit into your take on things? A unanimous board decision, not the personal vendetta that your trying to make out.
