25% dip in turnover needs addressing by the club, crowds are only down 12.9% from last season, is the rest of the drop due to tv money? Sponsorship?

We got £1.4 million for Carl Tiler back in 1991 so to sell Stones for 1.5 in 2013 would be lunacy.

People can say what they want about John Dennis but he knew how to negotiate a fair transfer price.

Making cuts to make a profit, not increasing any income revenues. My company sack folk for doing that. There's only so many cuts they can make before there's nothing left to cut.

    Keep on cutting....

I don't really give much credibility to this story but I'd be livid if we sold him that cheap.

We've got a severance package and new staff to pay for.

    Hasnt Davies paid for that?

If relegation is likely to cost £3million then at the very least put that as his valuation out in the media to start the bidding.

Pat wanted 11 Barnsley lads in the starting 11. Gunna be a bit difficult if he keeps flogging em.

I thought Davies was paying for the loan signings for the rest of the season? And going towards the 750k gap in budget we already have for next year (regardless of relegation or not)

    Which loan sigings?

the ones we refused to contribute to? A decent Cup run is essential by the sounds.

The funds being given to Flitcroft to bring folk in. Which loan signings didn't we contribute to?

I'm not saying £1.5 million is right. What I'm saying is if you're skint, you know you've got bills to pay and the money coming in next year might be even less then it's difficult to turn down reasonable bids and at the minute, for 20+ pro games £1.5 million is reasonable.

A cup run and fans back into Oakwell is essential. We've got our part to play, too.

to me this is just the state of things to come
im sorry but its hard to egnore the fact theres hardly a bobbing been passed around in league one and two even such as the mighty blades dont spend any... fact is unless a player is a first team international or a premier league player the finacial rules are starting to push prices down alittle
less is been spent (which is still silly amounts i know)
the only clubs that will spend alot are teams owned by rich familys etc which none of the linked are..

hes a fantastic player no doubt but he still has only played 20 games Im not saying im happy with just 1.5m but its more than we will get in summer and lets face it we need it

To the office manager, on mid management salary, £1.5 million sounds a lot

to a business man who knows what it takes to broker multi million pound deals, £1.5 million is small fry.

THAT is the crux of the problem.

It's a shame the guy from Man Utd didn't get involved with the board. That is what is lacking, someone with the required football and business nouse to broker the right deals for the club.

I am not knocking our efforts to pay our own way , it is absolutely the right way to go but it isn't just black and white - lets take the first offer and see how long we can live on that for.

We need a strategy and the ability to negotiate , sadly we don't seem to have anyone involved who wants to make that happen.

Well this particular episode will say a lot

about who is really running the club and their respective acumen.

I can pretty much guarantee the previous Chairman wouldnt have sold Davies for £300k and Stones for £1.5 million.

All those of you who are finding ways to justify Discount Don's latest alleged act of transfer market lunacy, which, even without his recent history of getting us the worst possible returns on some genuine assets, would be a reason to despair for the direction in which our club is heading, please don't expect a call about the vacancy when he finally, mercifully, retires.

Didn't the previous chairman agree to McIndoe's contract clause?

Strange to imagine what the club would be like now had we got the true market value for Hammill, Butterfield, Vaz Te, Shackell etc... We'd probably have a new West Stand.

    Different animal

took the clause to every club he signed for, for reasons that have now emerged in the media.

Bearing in mind he marched into the Chairmans office with his agent, refering to himself as "Mr McIndoe" who "will be signing for Wolves or will be going on strike" I think you'll agree a slightly different position to that with selling your leading goalscorer to the only club that has shown interest.
