Can we remember that long before people had "vested interests", people in this country held a minute's silence as a mark of respect. I for one, would like to continue to do that regardless of what Brand says. If he wants to make his political point, use the right channels.
That's a valid point and is actually responding to what he said. I have no problem at all with that. I'm only taking issue with people pretending he said something he didn't and then complaining about it. As have half of Facebook, the OP, and most of the press.
Fully agree. The minute silence was a mark of respect. Anyone making a political stance and claiming attention for it is truly misguided, irrespective of the rhetorics spouted.
The OP suggested "that ****** Brand" was 'condemning' the minutes silence. He wasn't. At all. Hence my agreeing with Andy (ark104). Whether Brand is self publicising, being obnoxious etc, that's a different point/debate and a 'pointless' one because I'd admit hands down he is. He seeks attention. However, he does make very good points, often says what I'm thinking and going by what he always repeats, he's totally in agreement with my own view that whilst these sort of terrorist attacks are ******* awful, so are the innocent deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent muslims at the hands of Bush/Blair/Obama/Cameron et al (or the corporations pulling their strings). It's easier though to create fear, to get common people pointing the finger of blame at innocents. "bloody immigrants coming over here" "them Muslims are all evil" "them on bloody benefits" Etc Etc. I'm in agreement with Brand, in that before the so-called 'war on terror' we were a much safer country to live in, and the world too was much safer. But no. 9/11 gave the cnuts the motivation to invade and bomb the **** out of a sovereign nation who had never attacked the US/UK, killing thousands of innocent folk, and since causing radical uprisings. Then they moved onto Afghan, suggesting the guy who 'did' 9/11 was there, took over another country, regime change blah blah, yet never found him. Well, not there anyway. Found him in Pakistan. Much evidence online to suggest Bin Laden was being protected by Pakistan. Yet no attacks on their country. The country with nuclear weapons but limited oil... It's not my fault that I don't buy everything the western governments try to sell us. And so I agree on these things with Brand. Whether he's a twwat, dresses like a wally, sounds like a character from Oliver, made **** films... all irrelevant. Pull him to bits I do not care. I only agree with the messages he gets out, to hundreds of thousands of people. I'm glad he's got that voice and uses it. I could repeat the stuff he says but I only get about 500 to 1000 views on my videos. Folk need to chill art on this forum in relation to others' views not matching their own. Of course it was atrocious what happened in Tunisia. If a minutes silence was to be observed, then that's up to the individual. Was it today then? I will have been at work so didn't know about it. Does that make me disrespectful? I wouldn't have thought so. Would I call that minutes silence "********"? No, and I disagree with Brand on that. But he was on point in making his point. In my opinion. Doesn't mean am right (or him) but neither does it make him or me a massive lovely person.
I dont care whether this Russell brand tosspot is making a valid point. hes an absolute pratt and i cant understand why hes always looked at as a funny & interesting celebrity!
You're opposed to me then mate. I listen to him making valid points but couldn't give a **** whether he's funny, interesting or a celebrity.
but neither does it make him or me a massive lovely person.
think you'll find that in his case the majority verdict is that it does
dont you just hate that cliquey nonsense, and some of my cliquey mates ordered me to say that!!
You might be right, in some views wrong. But either way his timing was awful. Do you agree? We are talking about Brand right now not the atrocities the min silence was supposed to recognise.
Have you watched the video? I guarantee that some in this thread won't watch it. So will miss the point. 461,000 innocent muslims killed by US/UK troops/bombs in Iraq alone. And we wonder why radicalised Muslims react? War on terror my arse. We are living in one of the two biggest terrorist nations. Sad, but true. In my informed opinion. Listen to the words in the video. Very different context. Nothing like what the OP or Tory media are making it out to be. Just attacking Brand. Again, without watching the video. Which makes you daft.
how did a tosspot like him ever pull that stunning bird and get to marry her ? (and i mean Jo brand of course, not katie perry)
