My late father , God rest his soul , first took me August 1968 to watch our opening home game of the 1968/69 season against Barrow ( ask your Dads ! ) . We sat in the Kop end of the West Stand . It seemed to me that practically every club played in blue against us that season . I was hooked immediately , even though we lost the game 3-2 . The following season , 1969/70 , was the first time I had a season ticket and we moved to the other Wing Stand . The pair of us stayed there until the end of the 1980/81 season , after which my father became too ill to attend any more games . The following season , I stood on the terracing of the Ponty End , as it bent towards the red fence separating it from the terracing in front of the old stand . There I stayed , through rain or shine , until forced to move at the end of 1993/94 . Along with everyone else , I had to sit in the East Stand ( alongside all the puffs and know alls :pff ) during 1994/95 . The following season saw me back in the Ponty End ( with all the REAL fans :D ) , where I've stayed ever since .

Stood main stand lower. Changed ends at half time.

RE: I was taken to my first match

Night matches in the 70's! Remember that old man that used to stand with his dog on the Spion Kop when we were kicking towards the Ponty?
