Union is more nuanced. League is just bish bash bosh, kick or turnover. Snoresville.

As an occasional viewer of both sports, Union wins hands down for me. Just seems to flow much better.

I would agree but the extent to which they hate us makes me (as a petty man) revel in their failures

Union is miles better. Went to watch my local side yesterday.

When there's a tackle, they don't do a pansy back heel then have to boot it after 4 or 5. Can't beat 10 big lads rolling around in big heap.

On the rugby...imho Wales and England have been poor for two years now. Its hard to see the red rose going to be anything yet, Borthwick has a big job on.
The ireland v all blacks game was immense, two teams playing at very high level and of course new Zealand were just awesome despite ireland playing very well.
On the home front, I like all the home nations to do well but I'm afraid that (again imho) isn't reciprocal....the others all want england to lose and some of it, in my own experience borders on hate......very sad.
I am enjoying the world cup and it looks like France v New Zealand final, which for the neutral will be brilliant.

I think both codes are struggling. League didn't have much of a "grand" final yesterday with a low scoring bore that would send neutrals to sleep.

Union has dragged on for a month and a half without any real big shocks.

Ireland threw it away last night, whether it was arrogance.. or perhaps confidence I'm not sure but turning down 3 points from penalties when you're playing catch up is pretty dumb. Not kicking the penalty in the 72nd minute cost them dearly... 27-28 and Ireland on the attack, but not needing to score a try to win, NZ would not have dared to pass wind for fear of giving a penalty away, and having to defend expecting that Sexton will go to win it with a drop goal cuts down your defensive cover. Basic error.

Imo. We are major rivals and expect the smaller nations to be beat automatically. Bit of a smugness if you like. By a lot of English.
But in the majority of cases most English fans of any sport Do in fact support their near nieghbours.
It's Bit like any other club in football at league level. Anybody to beat the 2 Sheffield clubs mentality.
I have many friends of those clubs and if any of em got to the final of a competion I'd wish em well over others. (Bar us or any other local rival. Eg Donny/Rovrum)
I really dont take it to heart and accept it. And just smile. :).
Btw. Union is not as exciting as league imho
    .
And anybody over the US. At owt. :)
Given that. Are we really that different. ?

Ireland / NI moves up to 2nd for me, because of my Mum. Scotland and Wales is a tie for 3rd based on the many mates I have from these countries.

Ruck! Unless you had a large black bird playing for your team. :)

I follow my team, NSW Waratahs, in the Super Rugby Pacific, and the women's team in the Super W. I also keep an eye on Leicester Tigers results, where I lived for six years and got my love for the game.

Dragged on? There's been some great games. They have to have longer between games to recover. It's not namby pamby football who can play every few days.

Fiji beating and qualifying ahead of AUS has to be a bit of a shock, and then lose to Portugal in last group game.

A tournament doesn't necessarily need big shocks to be quality.

Me and you alike as occasional viewers. (Except for the fact I much prefer league)
It allus seems the majority of fans of teams In either code. want to trash the other. There are the odd fans that actually like both.

I used to watch League. Went to quite a few Leeds games, home and away, in the very early 90s (pre-superleague) with my mate Biff (RIP pal). Was a good day out. And watched quite a lot on sky back then, with Stevo and Eddie. Even used to watch a bit of AUS RL, especially remember the State of Origin games

But the 2 sports are just incomparable IMO.

Couldn’t agree less. I can’t get any enjoyment out of watching rugby league whatsoever - and I’ve tried to get into it many times.
