Re: Nope reality is it's highly unlikely to get replaced for a good few years yet. that in mind, i personally think the priority is a lick of paint, some new signage and remove the ridiculous broken glass oh...and a scoreboard (i'm classing that as west stand north!)
No, for reasons I outlined on Twitter which I can't be arsed to repeat. I like it, but it shouldn't be listed under any circumstances. It would be a nightmare for the club.
I just gave one example mate. I'm not comparing BFC to a pub chain, I'm comparing an example of how something being listed can be a pain to developing - surely you could see that? Having part of a building listed can cause all kinds of problems, even to the point of trying to paint it. I'm not saying knock it down and build a concrete stand, but I don't see listing it as the answer.
no way - could balls things up - if you like quaint old falling apart things lets list the scoreboard It would seriously hold us back if we needed to redevelop - we wouldnt even be able to give it a lick of paint without 200 signatures. NITEMARE.
Speaking as someone who has worked in this and related industries for 15 years - the west stand will never in a million years be a serious candidate for heritage listing. Saying that, if you want to stop it ever being altered or developed. Just move a colony of bats into the upper rafters and a couple of families of crested newts in to the bogs and you won't be able to do so much as open a turn style with out incurring the wrath of tree-hugging, do-goody, liberal lefty conservation bodies.
I enjoyed reading this lads. Seems there's no real consensus but the majority are against it - interesting that people still think we should knock it down and build something else. As I said to Jay, would we rather we spent money on building a new stand or reinvest to keep this one? Mine would be the latter. Also, with all due respect to the club, I don't want it to be easy for them. I want it to be the right thing.
