I agree. Brexit changes everything and renders last year's general election obsolete. Manifesto promises now cannot be acted upon in full. Cameron had a 15 month old mandate but still thought it was the right thing to step down. The party should have followed suit.

Wouldn't it be a bit of a waste of time, effort and money? Tories would be likely to walk it and we'd just be in the same boat we are now......

    They wouldn't though

No party would have a majority

I'd be quite happy - in fact delighted for that not to be called married either.

I prefer to hand marriage back where it belongs - in church/synagogue/mosque/ stone circle or blazing pentagram - the union of a man and a woman before god.

However everyone would also have to pop off to the registry office to sign the contract of union.

(Whilst I've no problem with the name and number of your god(s) I think currently only Anglican clergy and Rabbi's have the "power" to legally as well as spiritually join a couple. The legal aspect should be stripped from them.)

That way everyone has equal rights. Those who can find a witch doctor or shaman or whatever that will marry them can get married.

Everyone that wants the legal contract can have one.
