I think we were at home to Southend

At the time I thought it was an act of the highest betrayal by Jim Iley & Ernest Dennis.

Do you remember the old "Tramp" guy that used ....

... to stand in front of the directors box chanting "Iley Out, Dennis Out". He also had a solo chant for the team screaming "COME" "ON" YOU" gap "RED" "AND" "WHITE" longer gap "WIZARDS". Absolute loner and madman.

RE: I think we were at home to Southend

Ahh! Southend. At team with the names of Laverick and Moody in them..... back then i always thought Southend seemed exotic. Now i've sampled the town at an older age.......... how wrong i was! (lookout) When i eventually went to Southend (it wasn't a match day) the place was full of Cockney wannebee types all flexing their muscles, mouthing off about 'norvners' and having punch ups with each other. This was on a Sunday afternoon about five years ago. No wonder the skinheads used to head for the place in the late 70's and early 80's when the Mod revival etc was on.

However; going back to the subject in hand after my rambling, i can remember Otulakowski scoring at Valley Parade in 1975 (we lost 2-1) when i was perturbed to see us playing in blue. Being a young un and so on. There were hardly any Barnsley supporters there that day and my lasting memory is of one's self busting for a *****.... panicking to find somewhere..... and then depositing my wares on the grassy bank to the rear of the Midland Stand (the bus shelter thing) whilst people arriving on the street cheered me on....... I was 11 years old at the time :$

He also did a "CUM ON BAAAAAARNSLEY"

Chant that was so slow and crokey that no-one could ever join in. Very embarrising

RE: Bloody hell! Yes I do!!

Was he the one that used to stir all the 'regulars' up? By that i mean the ones that stood at the back of the North Terrace right next to the tunnel. I've seen certain individuals from that group attack referees and oppostion players in the 70's. On occasion, some have sported a clump of hair like it was a trophy.

    Ahh! The disgusting side......

:) I fully understand :D But what makes it more pleasurable is that the southerners down here think all us Barnsley folk are mad and have a terrible toilet humour................. Strangely enough, i introduced a mouthy chap to a cup-a-poop no less than three weeks ago :pff

    Talking of known people......

What about the old fella on the Spion Kop with the dog (I think it was one of those fox-haired terrier types?? Could be well wrong. It was seemingly ginger though)? He used to sit close to the snack bar on the Brewery Stand side of the Kop.

    I had to

Sit in the Wing Stand at the Ponty End, due to my late Father's ill health, so I don't remember that guy.
