Why should we have to pay for something that the bbc will provide for us for free? Radio sheffield have said that they were offering us less money but they also said they were going to be covering less matches. It seems to me like another P.R. nightmare caused by Shepherd and co at the well.

Its all very convenient though isn't it?

BFC board get the hump with radio Sheff over a relatively insignificant amount of money.

Now the only solution to get information/commentary to the fans, especially those outside of Barnsley, is to get Barnsley world.

This point of principle is going to end up leadingsome fansto shell out for Barnsley world who normally wouldn't. Its us thats paying for it, not radio Sheff.

All that was available last season

But we also had many commentaries available on BBC Radio Sheffield. Plus in depth pre and post match interviews. Plus interviews with the chairman and the manager where questions were asked that the fans wanted to hear. Now the only way to hear the club away from home is on Barnsley World. **** that! And if anyone claims that Oakwell AM is a tenth of the quality of Radio Sheffield then they're talking out of their arse.

    What a load of ballacks.

    Not true

Radio Sheffield approached the club with a significantly reduced offer on last season which in comparison with what the other Championship clubs are receiving is pitiful and simply not worth it for access to players, manager, interviews and the advertising that is part of the deal, it just doesnt stack up.

the view from Radio Sheffield is that we have no alternative so will have to sign up. its a total insult in my opinion, and the club is better served sourcing an alternative that provides a much better service for its fans. in the meantine, full match coverage is being broadcast over the internet on all games for 67 pence a week, but course, its the club thats in the wrong, they should let BBC South Yorkshire **** on us so people in Worksop are happy.

any possible opportunity to have a pop, I simply cant get my breath.

    Dearne FM will have...

    exclusive coverage of all games?

I thought that they would have news and Oakwell 1575 would cover home and away games via radio and internet?

    RE: No

That and the un-reliable nature of the Premium TV service.

    exactly

And the good news is that barnsley world will now be provided by the amateurs at 1575 (no offence to them, they do their best but technically speaking they are amateurs and we have to pay to listen to them)

Radio Sheffield DO NOT pay for access to players, managers etc for interviews

They just don't. Never have done, never will. Just the same as all the other broadcasters/press. Radio Sheffield offered to cover the games at the nationally agreed rate, a rate that every other club in the country is perfectly happy with, but that wasn't good enough for BFC.
