I think you're a wind up.

    Because this certainly is.

Fans have less choice than last season. At least last year some games were covered on RS, now it's either Oakwell 1575 (which again, was available last year for home games) or Barnsley World, which again was available last season. So, actually, unless fans want to pay, they get **** all.

    It's a joke.

    They pay

for live games and get some add ons like advertising and the like as part of the deal. they offered us a pitance with the proviso that they'd cover less games, but still wanted the advertising. the club said no thanks, but you can pay the nationally agreed rate to cover the games, they said they dont pay neither do any other broadcaster. so the club said none of the other broadcasters try to manouver us into a corner, so you dont pay, you dont play. thats my understanding.

I absolutely applaud the club for taking the stance, the package meant less coverage for fans and less money for the club, ie everyones a loser. We CAN and WILL do better.

I don't know the ins and outs, because both sides are putting out conflicting stories

But as far as I know, Radio Sheff pay an agreed rate same as all locall BBC stations do. It doesn't add up.

But regardless of all that, the profile of our club can only suffer by shunning the BBC. Its alright saying that the information will be available, just via other channels, but a lot won't get Barnsley world. I think its a great service these days, but 40 notes is a lot for some folk and they won't pay it.

Dearne FM are only available on the air, as far as I know you can't listen online. So if you don't live in the area you're not getting any coverage from them.

We need our club's profile to be enhanced all the time to keep attracting fans. Radio silence from Sheffield won't do us any favours.

I think (but don't know for a fact) that this beef with Radio Sheff is a personal grievance between our board and them. Someone isn't telling the complete truth anyway cos the two stories don't stack up.

So the club said that they can pay the nationally agreed rate to have live commentary of games and radio sheffield denied paying anything at all to anyone else? odd

I don't wish to be picky but....

is "in regarding" a proper grammatical term?

And where did Gordon go to make his statements of intent following Ridsdale's departure?

Barnsley World? Derne FM? Was it ****

It dunt make what he/she's saying on this occasion any less valid though Dirk.

The club's statement tells us nowt to justify what, to me, is a worse information service for fans.

    No,

when asked to pay the nationally agreed rate, Radio Sheffield said they dont pay for access and neither do any other broadcaster. they never denied paying other local clubs for live coverage, but when you compare our offer to theirs, thats where the discrepancy arises.

you wont believe a word I say, nor anything that comes out of the club, so why I waste my time trying to put the record straight, I just cant really be fuc...

Spot on Jay. I for one won't be paying for Barnsley World. Whenever I have heard commentaries online for away games, I have had Sky Sports news on TV at the same time, and it's come up on the bottom of the screen regarding any goals, before the commentary. It tends to be behind after all the breaking up it does. I remember last season listening to a commentary online - it finished turned 5o clock - almost 10 minutes later than real-time!

**** Barnsley World. Shame that Radio Sheff and Shep cant sort this out like adults. I can't comment on facts and figures because what the club and Radio Sheff say are in complete contrast. All I know is that Radio Sheff's coverage has always been good - even if a touch biased at times - but not to the extent that some people like to think.

But what exactly are you saying? You keep saying that when asked to pay the nationally agreed rate (which is for live commentary and nothing more as far as i'm aware) they replied by saying that they don't pay anyone else for access to players (which is a totally seperate issue).

Thats the only part of what you're saying that doesnt make sense to me, i never said you was lying.

    Don't fully understand this situation

but if BFC and Radio Sheffield can't sort something out then why can't BFC invest some money in Oakwell 1575AM so that new equipment can be bought including a new aerial so that all Barnsley can get a decent reception?

More people would probably use Barnsley World if reception was improved and coverage was guaranteed.

Also I can't understand why when BFC has a radio station broadcasting from it's ground why they don't broadcast it in the ground instead of other music. It does seem an awful waste.
