Waiting until the player has received the ball before raising the offside flag. You're offside at the point the ball is played, not when you receive it. If you're in a position to receive then you're active and offside so raise the chuffing flag.

There was a ridiculous situation yesterday when Blackpool played it forward with a man offside. The linesman didn't raise his flag. Pinnock then knocked it on and it went to the offside player at which point the linesman did raise his flag. So he was flagged offside when we played it to him. Bonkers.

Someone is going to go in with a crunching tackle on a player who is offside and break their legs because the linesman hasn't raised his flag. The game could and should have been stopped seconds earlier and restarted with a free kick for offside, which would have stopped the tackle ever taking place.

The failure of referees to give fouls in the penalty area for holding, pushing, shirt pulling.

    - Fans that know more than the manager
    - managers that know less than the crowd
    - Emmanuel Frimpong (and general players who don't look happy when they've just signed for you)
    - OH AND THE BIGGIE .... Written signs held up asking players for their shirts. This only seems to have happened in the last few away matches.

    - The fact that clubs (mentioning no names), blatantly cheat and spend money they don't have get away with it.

Some clubs get relegated, some clubs get promoted to the prem, and some are just MASSIVE..... but they all cheated.

    - under 21s in the cup designed for lower league teams
    - big clubs snatching up all young talent - and often doing nothing with them.
    - The milk cup not being called that any more

    - TV Rghts, and that "competition" means that consumers have to pay more in that they have to pay for both BT Sport (Or before that, ESPN/Setana (SP) Sport as well as Sky sports and having paid all that money, have to endure the adverts too.

    - ITV Digital for obvious reasons.

I don't mind JP but his approach seems to have ushered in an army of commentators who show exaggerated fake enthusiasm for the games they watch. A bunch of amateur ham actors.
What we need is some dour honesty.

I'd like to see Conan doing the commentating on "Final Score":

"Barnsley are heading comfortably to their 9th 4-0 away victory of the season, but it's clear to see that the team just aren't good enough and I'm sure Daniel Stendel and the board are already looking to move all of these players on in the next transfer window..."

Then cut back to Jason Mohammad's aghast face.

Doh. A very good point, and rather well made!

You know what I meant though.

Agreed. Though I thought this was clamped down on very well during the World Cup last year.

    - yard hoarding at throw-ins
    - players basically undressing the other team in the box without fouls given
    - 'injuries'
    - 'injuries' that are treated on the field rather than off it for aaaages
    - 'injured' players actively walking from the side line further onto the pitch to then be treated for aaaaaages there
    - the average ref's interpretation of '10yds'
    - the ability to hand out 3-game bans for what McGeehan did based on Sky commentary, but the inability to do so for acts that are absolutely vile based on a common sense replay of the game

    This.

Never understood it. Everyone bar the opposition goalkeeper in the area means
    a) No early release if we keep possession and b) crowding the box makes it much harder for the goalkeeper to go for the ball.
Surely eight outfielders can provide enough cover for the goalkeeper to mark any attacking threat and besides, keeping two pacey attackers up near the halfway line means the attacking team MUST keep 3 defenders back to cover (often they are big guys who come forward and pose an aerial threat at corners).

    What am I missing?

Just for once, perhaps in a meaningless game, we could leave 4 or 5 players forward. It's be worth it to see the confusion on the opposition players faces.

If you pack the box with players you prevent the opposition from being able to run, jump and get a powerful header on target. That's the counter argument. There isn't a right answer but all players back is a valid alternative.

Valid yes but surely man marking for corners e.g. the likes of Pinnock closely marking the main aerial threat should prevent running jumping anmd powerful headers. Suppose it defends on the quality of the players at our disposal and given we have/had probably the best full back pairing in the division it seems the lesser of the two "valid options" to me at least. That said, compared to most people, I know **** all about tactics and strategy when it comes to football.
Then again I watch F1 and cannot believe the chief strategist at Ferrari actually gets paid. I suspect he never looks out of the window at what is happening, sits with eyes glued to his monitor, and simply utters the words "il computer dice NO!"

    - Commentators using catchphrases such as "He's got a good touch for a big man"
    - commentators deciding the result 5 minutes before normal time is up (See Walsall away. Last words before we scored were along the lines of when our goal drought will end)
