It’s a sad set of posts after what is a great, and surprising, win. But it does demonstrate how much the fan base is split, and has been for some time. Never good. It seems to me there are different issues that all being lumped together as one and that’s unfortunate. The Club IS badly run and on its arse. I say that on the basis of the shedload of evidence we’ve seen for a very long time now. But it’s not true to say this team is hopeless or relegation fodder. It’s only the 3 September so clearly there hasn’t been time to make a reasonable assessment of the team or the squad. Similarly, although there are a few on here who think Michael Duff is the new messiah, it’s still rather early to make that call imo.
Well that's not true in any case. Some of the stuff you post winds me up at times as, I'm sure some of mine does you. I've said to you in the past though that I still find you amiable and impossible to get properly annoyed at.
I listened to it also. My opinion? Typical Duff. Don't get carried away. It's one game of football. We played well. Relief that the window is closed because he now has a group of players who want to be here and will work hard as we go forward. MD is just what this club needs at the moment. Feet on the ground. Work to do. Guarantee that the players will work hard. Anything less is not good enough. Rome wasn't built in a day and nor will BFC be in its current state but at least now we have some hope; and whilst it might be true that its the hope that kills you, my view is better to have some hope than none.
I apologise mate. I am a bit of a doom monger at times. I love Duff to bits though. I'm one hundred per cent behind him and the players. Just look at my posts about Hondermarck and Iseka. I need something to get behind though. I think that's where my pessimism and apathy stems from. Anyway. Sorry I snapped
Barnsley win against Sheffield Wednesday. What is your immediate response to that? It's to go on the BBS and slate fellow fans. The first thought in your head is **** I can really start an argument with other Barnsley fans over this one. I don't get it at all. Great result. Great win. Lets have many more of them and get as high up the league as we can
Cheers mate. I didn't think I cared anymore but I can't shake it. I watched Leeds match telling myself "Oh this is a good game". I like Tottenham but if Barnsley aren't winning it pales into insignificance. I don't think I could watch football without Barnsley F.C in spite of hating some facets at times.
It's difficult to take an interest in anyone else. I do like watching non league footy, or I did when I was in the UK. I used to go and watch Witton Albion now and then. Over here it's been a challenge as the nearest club is Cork City two hours away. Good news is that a place has been awarded to a Kerry team to play in next year's Irish second division playing 25 minutes away in Tralee so maybe I can get a bit of a footy fix. Not the same as Oakwell though. The price of fuel, hotels etc etc make the prospect of getting to Oakwell in the near future look a bit bleak though.
This seems a bit unfair to those who are sceptical. Fantastic win today, and by all accounts a great performance, but I still think anybody is within their rights to have concerns about how the club is being run. A great win doesn't change that any more than a catastrophic loss does.
Conman's gone. It's going to take time to repair the damage that he's done; hopefully, things now won't get any worse before they start to get better.
What a bizarre post. Obviously everyone is ecstatic about today's win. To suggest that some hope we lose to enjoy bashing the club is extremely backward. Folk have been rightly pissed off with the last 18 months, but that doesn't mean they aren't allowed to celebrate today. Odd behaviour.
I've had a lovely day, albeit one that my GP might bollock me for come next week! Couple of pints, met up with friends, squeezed myself into one of them 'seats' in that death trap stand and then proceeded to watch a Duff mastermind high octane start to finish top class individual and team performance from the Reds. So, so wonderfully dominant, so much so that the fat lady ought to have had her closing choruses done and been washed, shaved and dressed for a night out on the tiles by 4.20pm. Back to the better half now with a rare treat Chinese (Special Roasted Pork, of course) and a few bottles of Erdinger. Highlights later on. Magic. In all this, never at any point did I dream of the need to take time out to have a pop at fellow Reds who I'd imagine like me just want the best for our club and want it to be the best it can be. Ho hum. I guess it's like the better half said the other day when I asked her to read through a thread on here 'cos I thought an intelligently critical poster was being unfairly piled on to and I wanted an unbiased second opinion. Her words not mine - "there's far more people seem to post moaning about people moaning than you could actually distinguish are moaning!" Anyway back to the celebrations - Barbecued pork rib next, followed by Piggy Paradise Ice Cream. COYR!
Isn't that the same as people who label others happy clapper's just because they don't froth at the mouth everytime we lose.
Yes, thought thats the point i was making. Both sides seem to have issues with the other. But in reality most people actually want the same thing.
