Dealt a poor hand but will overperform with what he's got. Still not certain on Helik. Styles and Iseka as far as moves are concerned so no settled side yet. the window should be closed on the 1st day of the season to stop this farce..
I like Duff. He's come to a club dying on its ass off the back of one of our worst seasons ever on and off the field. He's had assets sold for millions and not been allowed to spend a penny on a transfer fee. He speaks a lot of sense and he will get us better don't worry.
The way they capitulated against Wycombe after conceding first was worryingly reminiscent of last season, so to come within a missed penalty of reverting a two goal deficit to Premier League opposition and follow it up with two comeback goals away to the league leaders is a pretty good response. He's definitely got some work to do but he's clearly capable. Hope he's a long term appointment.
I see Duff as a 2 to 3 year project , with a lack of cash I see him building slowly but I get that gut feeling that he has come to do a job & I fancy if given the time he will make a fist of it, his record throughout his career shows loyalty & I hope that continues with us & both us & Duff get the rewards .
Too early to tell. It’s an absolutely massive job with only 3/4 players actually good enough for anything other then bottom 8. Needs 2 years as a minimum to change things round. We look what we are at the moment an average to poor team in transition
Needs backing with money and the players need to perform better. Most likely the best we could attract.
I like him. Yes we need more players but at least he doesn’t seek to use that as an excuse and looks to get the best results using what he has available. Given time I see us being moulded into a versatile unit that can play good football but master th darker side to dig in and mix it when needed.
He'll be gone by Christmas and it wont be his fault, we need imput, we're not getting any, we need money, we aint got any, we need to offload, and we can't even sell two international players. We will do well with what we have, but the results wont be good enough and he'll either foooook off or the power's that be will replace him. He's doing a great job, who's going to come to Barnsley, [ lets see ] it's just unfortunate that the Club are the problem and not him,
Only chance of him being here that long is if he keeps us firmly in the bottom half for the entire period but doesn't get us relegated. If we're relegated we'll sack him, if we win a few games another club will poach him.
You could be right Jay but I actually think if we win a few games & start to progress this is where Duff will show some loyalty & see the job out , I do not think he is one to jump ship as proven with his time in coaching at Burnley & Cheltenham , fan pressure if we are struggling could lead to is exit but I think even the most ardent Barnsley fan would welcome some stability for a change , lets hope it goes well for him
After 44 seasons, I've learned to keep my gob shut. Give everyone a chance & mop up tears later. I liked that Valerien fella. Should just have let that talented side off the lead a bit more.. What do I know? Nowt.. i go with the premise that they are all world beaters. What other way is there? I'm a Barnsley fan.
Agreed mate. Just support them the best we can. Tell 'em they're sh*t when they lose, tell 'em they're great when they win. "They dunt wanna go up" one minute... to "It's just like watching Brazil" the next.... The life of a Barnsley fan......
This is it for me. Early days but the signs are good talks sense. Been dealt a **** hand but were in a transition period needs to be given time got the hardest job of a Barnsley manager ive ever seen.
Too early to really tell but first signs are encouraging. Seems to have got the team spirit back and given the players some direction. Clear improvement on the last 2 head coaches. Let’s see as the season progresses how he handles things but no real complaints so far. Early days though
