That's a corking post from the man whose responses to me largely involve calling me a sociopath, largely upon the basis that he's lost the debate. I can post all our previous "debates" if you want, and let everyone decide. And then your "respect" for debate, and indeed other posters, can be laid bare. Shall I press the button? Please be more respectful.
Let's do the Johnno debate again if you like. I think it's bizarre how you won't let that go. I think your online persona is odd and I don't particularly enjoy your posting style. That said, you have every right to think completely differently to me. I haven't blocked you or reported you. I still say that Johnno wouldn't have taken us up. You can't disprove this and you will never change my mind. You're entitled to think he would have.
You would never have found me arguing that LJ would or wouldn't take us up. Cos I don't know. I might have argued that I thought he might. You might even have been right in arguing that he wouldn't take us up. That's a debate. What you can never seem to admit to however is the fact that you were wrong when you posted that he'd left us with "no chance" of us going up.And then used such false premise ever after to slag him off. And anyway you shouldn't be so nasty to a fellow poster when he explains why he is leaving.
He is leaving because some people don't share the same opinion as him. Seems par for the course for a board based on football opinions. Be a bit boring if we all agreed wouldn't it.
He seems to me to be saying that he's leaving because a minority of posters, who often tend to dominate this board, are constantly flooding it with unnecessarily negative comments. And thereby ruining it. But if you don't agree with my interpretation, at least I'm not being boring.
I always find it funny that if somebody says our club can do better than it is doing and seeks improvement to take us to a higher level they are considered negative but if somebody says no we are a small club and should be grateful we exist at all and can hope for no improvement that they are positive.
And those that sit in the middle and deal in reality are deemed lacking in ambition and happy clappers.
No, the ones deemed happy clappers (at least by me) are those who refuse to acknowledge when anything can be improved and who say 'at least we have a club' or 'you should have seen us in the old fourth division' and refuse to accept that improvements can and should be made. Any examples of people in the middle who don't post like this but get called happy clappers?
Well I don't think you are. I believe you could see no wrong in anything Patrick did but I've also seen you comment that you agree improvements could be made.
I do see where improvements could be made. I don't think everything the new owners have done fills me with confidence. Jury is still out. I didn't even think Cryne was faultless. He made a lot of mistakes though I always thought his intentions to BFC were honourable as he seemed to me to be a true fan. He risked a considerable portion of his wealth to prop us up with no certainty of getting it back. How many of us would do the same? What I object to is the mindless and nasty running down of him by certain posters who love to destroy. If there's reasonable and realistic scope to improve the club I want to see it done. What I can't bear is those (not including you here) who live in a fantasy world where we're the type of club that our size and previous resources cannot aspire to. When they don't get their wishes they demean and disrespect everything the club has ever done or stands for as being worthless and below our supposed dignity. Unless the new owners can increase the financial power of the club well beyond what any previous incumbents have managed we will remain a medium sized club that is likely to have cycles of success seeing us compete at the top of the Championship and more frequent cycles of struggle where we fall out of it or occupy the bottom half. Some people just WILL NOT accept the realities and it does my head in.
The majority of my complaints tend to be about the small things that we can and should improve on rather than big things which we need to work towards long term not short. Always thought Patricks intentions were honourable but that he held the club back by the way he implemented his intentions. I will criticise his running of the club but I try to make sure that I always say I don't think he was intentionally ruining us or anything like that. Still think it's **** that we haven't sorted the scoreboard though. Especially considering that each match there are huge boards sat a few hundred yards from the ground.
This is what you call a well balanced post. A lot more posters on here make these types of posts, however there are about a dozen people who are just ridiculously negative, that you wonder why they even bother supporting the club. Some of us try & inject some humour & even the odd surreal post, which I think is more welcoming than the 178th post about the fact we haven't signed anybody yet. It does seem like we are signing Dougal & Zeberdee tomorrow, which should keep some of us older guard happy. Uncle Bulgaria & The Soup Dragon rumoured to be signing next week. Should stop us dropping too many Clangers next season.
I still think that the admin team should take the lead of a few other(non footy) forums I frequent. On them, if someone has a flounce and feels they have to post and tell everyone that they refuse to use the board again then their account is automatically deleted/closed. The rule does a cracking job of stopping people throwing a "I'm going to say I'm not using the forum anymore so people beg/try and persuade me to stay" strops...
I heard we'd have seen a new scoreboard had we stayed in the championship. Most of the planned improvements are on hold right now.
