To be fair, Birmingham only signed him because they could only sign someone from a club in admin outside of the transfer window.

Not that much of a choice.

    Thats a difficult question

because for about 3 years all we did was loan really bad goalkeepers. Didn't we once play about 6 in one season?? Ilic, Beresford, Turnbull, Marriott, one of the academy lads (maybe flinders) and someone else possibly colgan before he went out on loan to a scottish side.

Brian Sharratt during the 1969/70 season

I'm utterly convinced he cost us promotion. Not that I bear a grudge, you understand(!)

We've had far worse goalkeepers on loan

Or ones that have made a couple of appearances. But I wouldn't say we've had far worse that have played a substantial amount of matches. Not since I've been watching anyway.

    I think overall

That our permanent keepers have been pretty reasonable when I think of some of the dross I've seen against us, and those loan keepers - most of which have indeed have been ****.

I think Marriott was okay to be honest, no better no worse.

Steele was the exception as a loan keeper.
